The latest: Nile Rodgers, 68, said on social media Sunday that his mother Beverly Goodman has died after an Alzheimer’s battle. He was snapped in NYC last year

The Chic co-founder last week opened up about the anguish he experienced not being able to connect in person with her for the holidays, as she was hospitalized under strict medical protocols amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

‘The saddest part of this #COVID holiday is not being able to visit my #mom,’ Rodgers said December 23. ‘She’s always happy and entertaining even w late stage #Alzheimer’s. I’ve learned to redirect or not, so she’s never uncomfortable with her memory loss.’

Rodgers earlier this month told The Mirror about his family history with the disease.

‘Six family members have had Alzheimer’s,’ he said. ‘We are talking about my mother who currently has Alzheimers. And my mum’s sister, my aunt, died of Alzheimers. And their mother, my maternal grandmother, died of it, and my maternal grandmother’s sister – my great aunt – she died of it. And also her daughter died of it. And my uncle as well.’
