Iconic Aussie singer Daryl Braithwaite performs at the A-League soccer match in Geelong

Daryl Braithwaite took to the stage at the A-League soccer match in Geelong on Monday.

The 71-year-old legendary Aussie singer belted out some of his classic hits at the game, while showing his support for Western United FC.

Daryl had a green team scarf wrapped around his neck in honour of the Melbourne football club.

He also wore a plain black T-shirt as he took to the microphone ahead of kick-off at GMHBA Stadium.

Western United faced off against Adelaide United during the match, which ended up being a disappointing 0-0 tie.

In an interview with Today back in July, Daryl said he doesn’t get tired of performing his best known hit, The Horses.

‘That really hasn’t gone to sleep at all. It’s maintained and maybe gotten bigger,’ he said of the 1990 single.

But he admitted he now shortens his performance of the four-minute song after fellow musician James Reyne branded it ‘shameless’.

It’s been a busy year for Daryl, who also performed at the Fire Fight Australia concert back in February.

In an interview with radio station 2GB at the time, Daryl admitted he was left starstruck after meeting Queen guitarist Brian May backstage.  

‘I saw him get out of his car, and I put my hand out and I said, “Thanks for doing this, Brian,”‘ he recounted.

‘He didn’t know who I was, I could have been anyone, and he said, “No, pleasure.” Two of my road crew saw it and they could not believe it. It was just one of those moments.’
