Cardi B says it ‘feels good to be free’ after settling 2-year, $30million legal battle with her former manager… with the matter being ‘dismissed with prejudice’

Cardi B has finally put an end to a two-year, $30million legal battle with her former manager Klenord ‘Shaft’ Raphael, with the entire matter being ‘dismissed with prejudice.’

‘This action, including all claims and counterclaims, is hereby dismissed in its entirety with prejudice against all parties,’ stated court documents from December 24, which were obtained by AllHipHop on Sunday.

This means that Shaft’s 2018 lawsuit and Cardi’s countersuit cannot be brought back to court at any point in the future.

Over and done with: Cardi B has finally put an end to a two-year, $30million legal battle with her former manager Klenord ‘Shaft’ Raphael, with the entire matter being ‘dismissed with prejudice’

Shaft and Cardi also agreed to pay all of their own legal feels, with court documents stating: ‘The parties have further agreed that all parties to this action shall bear their own costs and attorney’s fees.’

Taking to Twitter, the 28-year-old rapper celebrated the end of her legal woes with Shaft, writing: ‘Feels go to be free.’

Shaft, who claimed he discovered the WAP hitmaker in 2015 and secured her a spot on VH1’s Love & Hip Hop, filed a ‘$10 million breach of contract lawsuit’ against her in April of 2018.

Specifically, Cardi’s former manager claimed that she abandoned their agreement in order to sign with the Atlanta-based management company Quality Control, who also represents her husband Offset’s rap group the Migos.

He also claimed to have ‘connected’ Cardi with the essential ‘publishers and producers’ who crafted her chart-topping hit single Bodak Yellow, which catapulted her to superstardom in the summer of 2017.

In response, Cardi and her attorneys filed a $30million countersuit in July of 2018, alleging that Shaft had set-up a ‘one-sided’ and ‘unfair’ management deal with her since she signed it without a lawyer, as per TMZ and AllHipHop.

According to the countersuit, Shaft ‘got a 20% commission,’ but tried to seek even more commission off of Cardi’s Sony music publishing deal. ‘Cardi says he demanded 50% of that deal.’

The Bodak Yellow rapper also suggested that Shaft attempted to control aspects of her personal life, such as her romantic relationship with her now husband Offset, 28.

He was allegedly putting ‘barriers between her and people close to her in an effort to maintain complete control over her’ and telling her ‘who she should and should not see romantically,’ according to documents obtained by TMZ in 2018.

The legal battle between the pair, which stewed for over two years, reportedly ‘snagged up Cardi’s recording career – and millions in royalties due from her label Atlantic Records’ during that period,’ as reported by AllHipHop.
