Home and Away star Johnny Ruffo shares Christmas photo after brain cancer update

Former Home and Away star Johnny Ruffo has shared a sweet Christmas photo, after revealing he is battling brain cancer for a second time. 

On Friday, the 32-year-old posed alongside girlfriend Tahnee Sims in an Instagram image, with both wearing matching festive pyjamas as they cuddled close together.

Johnny captioned the photo: ‘Merry Christmas, hope everyone has an amazing day with their families and gets spoiled rotten’.

He was inundated with warm greetings from friends and fans, with Morning Show host Kylie Gillies commenting under the image:  ‘You too’ along with a heart emoji.   

One fan added: ‘Merry Christmas! I wish you both an amazing holiday season!! Sending love and good health xxx.’ 

Another wrote: ‘Happy Christmas to you guys too. Enjoy this special day together and plan for many more to come’. 

Someone else added: ‘Merry Christmas champion…God bless’ while another added: ‘Sending Christmas wishes all the way from Scotland. Have a lovely day and sending you healing wishes for a happy 202. Merry Christmas to you both.’

On Wednesday, the star shared an update on his cancer treatment progress to Instagram, alongside two photos.

In the first image, Johnny was beaming from ear to ear in a car, as he smiled alongside his girlfriend Tahnee Sims. 

In the second, the former The X Factor Australia star sat in a treatment room, receiving what appears to be chemotherapy.

Johnny captioned both images: ‘Ding, ding. Round Two. Fight! Let’s do this!’ alongside the hashtag #f***cancer.

His post was quickly inundated with famous well-wishers. 

Studio 10’s Sarah Harris wrote, ‘Go you good thing’, and echoed Johnny’s hashtag. 

Lynne McGranger, who plays Irene Roberts on Home and Away, also offered kind words. ‘Sending love always, my dear friend,’ she wrote alongside images of flexed biceps.

Johnny revealed the heartbreaking news he was once again battling brain cancer on November 24. 

‘After an unexpected week of seizures and excruciating headaches it is with a heavy heart that I have to let you know I now have another huge battle ahead of me as my brain cancer has returned,’ Johnny wrote on Instagram.

Johnny was first diagnosed with the disease in 2017 after he went to hospital with painful migraines.

In August of the same year, he had a 7cm brain tumour surgically removed, before undergoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy. 

Johnny rose to fame on talent show The X Factor in 2011, where he placed third. 

He later portrayed Chris Harrington on Home and Away from 2013 to 2016.
