Nikki Blonsky confirms what we knew as she reveals kiss with Hairspray co-star Zac Efron was ‘magic’

Nikki Blonsky made it to the big leagues back in 2007, when she starred in the big-screen adaptation of the Broadway musical Hairspray.

And at least one part of the Golden Globe nominee’s experience on set still makes an impression, over a decade later.

She recently confirmed what we all knew, as she revealed that her onscreen kiss with her romantic lead Zac Efron was nothing short of ‘magic,’ while opening up about the experience on the podcast Women On Top.

The 32-year-old said of the scene: ‘Zac and I stood there for nine days. It was great. He is magic. He is a very talented man, all in all. He’s got it all, what can I say?’

She starred as the plucky and talented plus-size teen Tracy Turnblad, who beat the odds to land a spot on the local access Baltimore dance show The Corny Collins Show, where she wins the heart of golden boy Link Larkin (Efron).

Based on the 2002 Broadway musical and the original subject matter, John Waters’ 1988 cult classic, the movie landed nominations for three Golden Globes and one Grammy.

Blonsky also revealed that their big kiss, which came after the film’s triumphant musical conclusion, almost got them a PG-13 rating.

Keep it PG: She added: 'He slipped [his tongue] on me! Adam Shankman, our director, called him on it. Adam was like, "Hey, whoa, just caught the tongue!" And Adam was like, "No! No tongue!"' (pictured with Amanda Bynes and Elijah Kelley in July, 2007)

The Smash actress added of her friendship with Efron, 33: ‘Not to make every woman and gay man jealous, but he was my best friend on the set of Hairspray.

‘Even when we weren’t filming, we were together on the weekends. [He was] constantly at my apartment and I was always at his, doing his laundry when he didn’t do it. I will toss him under the bus for not doing his laundry! And he knows it!’
