Before and after pictures showed how the iconic ITV soap has progressed from being filmed on a small set to a vast seven-acre site in Salford.

Stretching over 7.7 acres, the site in Trafford, MediaCityUK is home to over 400 staff, and stands in the shadow of the cities where it all began, Manchester and Salford.

Corrie relocated to MediaCityUK in 2014 before revealing its new Victoria Street extension in 2018.

The soap has come a long way from its humble origins with a cast of just 12 actors filming in Studio 2 at Granada Television.

Back then the show had a wooden set to represent the Street and the cobbles were painted onto the floor and cast pretending to step onto the imaginary kerb.

When Corrie moved to colour television in 1970, a new brick set was built as the previously-used wooden set had become damaged due to the Manchester weather, and a decade later the entire set was rebuilt on Quay Street.
