Courteney Cox finally reunites with fiance Johnny McDaid

Courteney Cox reunited with her fiance Johnny McDaid this month after nine months apart.

The 56-year-old actress recorded a video message with McDaid, 44, in which they thanked frontline workers in Derry, Ireland, where McDaid is from.

In the clip the couple can be seen in the countryside, seemingly in the UK, as Cox says: ‘We just want to thank all the people at Ráth Mór in Creggan for all the incredible work you have done this year.

‘Well done guys, thank you so much for all the work — it’s so appreciated,’ the Snow Patrol musician added. ‘And I know it’s been a really tough year, but here’s to a great 2021 ahead.’

The video was posted on December 11 on Twitter as part of a community initiative.

It’s the first time the couple – who live on different continents – have been seen together in nine months, when they were forced apart by travel restrictions amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Cox revealed in October that hadn’t seen her fiance for more than 200 days.

The former Friends star said goodbye to Johnny in March, when he returned to the UK just a day before the lockdowns happened, but she insisted she hasn’t been feeling too lonely without him.

‘At first I was like, wow what do I do with myself? I cook every day, I’ve learned to cook so much more, I’ve perfected it…,’ she told pal Foy Vance on his ‘Vinyl Supper’ podcast and video series.

‘I haven’t seen John in that many days, he left when the country shut down, the day before,’ she added.

‘Sundays are different, I miss a lot of it, although people are starting to go, “OK, people have been quarantining, everyone’s safe,” they like to come to the beach so I’m not that lonely.’

The 56-year-old star was thankful to have two friends volunteer to stay with her amid the global health crisis because she is too ‘chicken’ to have stayed alone with her 16-year-old daughter Coco.

It’s not clear why the Scream star chose not to travel to see her beau before now, as there has been no ban on travelers from the US entering the UK.

There has however, since March, been a ban on non-US citizens/ green card holders flying into the United States from the UK and Europe.

In September Cox celebrated seven years since meeting the musician.

Sharing a collection of snaps of the couple to Instagram, the actress wrote: ‘7 years ago today I had my first date with this incredible man… and my life was changed forever. I love you J’

The couple have maintained a long distance relationship, with Cox living in Los Angeles and McDaid, born in Northern Ireland, based in London in recent years.
