Bella Hadid donates some of her ‘warmest’ jackets and coats to the less fortunate in NYC

Winter has finally arrived in New York, with the state falling victim to frequent, heavy snowfall after last week’s major storm. 

And Bella Hadid, thinking of the less fortunate, decided to donate some of her ‘warmest’ jackets and coats to The People’s Table NYC, a non-profit that dispenses clothing. 

In an emotional Instagram post, the supermodel, 24, explained the motivation behind her generous deed, also encouraging fans to follow her lead.

‘The snow has been beautiful but everyday, as it gets colder, i cant stop thinking about the people who don’t have homes this winter.. who walk to work every morning in the snow without the layers they need, the bad a** street workers,’ began Hadid.

She wrote that she is ‘always thinking of the people that might not be able to afford thick, warm coats for themselves, their kids, parents, etc.’ and that it ‘makes [her] emotional to even think about.’ 

Referencing to the social, emotional, and economic destruction caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Vogue cover girl noted that it has ‘been a rough year’ for many.

‘So many people have been hit hard by the loss of jobs, homes and on top of everything, this damn snow came in hard and causes lots of sadness and despondency,’ she wrote.

All of this reflection prompted Bella to go through her own endless supply of designer goods and donate the pieces that she was no longer wearing to those in need. 

‘I went through my closet and found some of my warmest things , jackets and coats to send to @thepeoplestablenyc they picked up all of it and will dispense it throughout the city to the people that need it most.’ 

‘I’m gonna continue to support them especially through the winter!! Thank you to the people’s table for all that you do,’ continue the star, adding: ‘I am so inspired ❤️’

Speaking directly her nearly 37million followers, Bella asked if any of them ‘have anything that [they] can donate to The Peoples Table in NYC’ and that it would be ‘sooo cool’ if they took the time to do so. 

‘And even if you just have one or two things.. anything helps! If you notice someone on the street that looks cold, let them know you care by grabbing them a warm jacket, a scarf, some socks, or a sweater!! Maybe even a extra warm drink too if you are feeling extra kind…’ the sister of Gigi Hadid suggested.

To close out her lengthy post, Bella emphasized that ‘its so important we continue to support our communities’ amid such a devastating time. 

‘If you or me were going through a rough time, we would hope that someone, somewhere was looking out for us too ❤️ solidarity!’ she concluded.

Along with her heartfelt words, Hadid included a photo of what appeared to be her bedroom in NYC, which was completely in shambles after having gone through all of her clothes.

Various hoodies, jackets, pants, and tees were strewn about the room in seemingly endless piles. 

She also made sure to share the original post made by The People’s Table asking people to donate ‘WINTER CLOTHING, SOCKS, GLOVES/HATS/SCARVES AND WINTER SHOES!’

Days after making her charity-driven post, Bella returned to Instagram to marvel over Monday’s ‘great conjunction.’

‘Tonight, dec 21st Jupiter and Saturn will align in a “great conjunction” for the first time in 800 years! , the two largest planets in our solar system will be seen as a single bright spot, this special conjunction encourage innovation for the greater good,’ she explained.

In wake of the day’s ‘rare celestial occurrence,’ Hadid encouraged her followers to take a moment to meditate.

‘It’s a time of quiet energy, where you get the opportunity to look within yourself and focus on what you want and need. It’s a time to set goals and intentions for the coming year, to examine and let go of our past, and to make changes within ourselves. Personal awakening,’ wrote the star, who included an up close photo of her eye.
