‘You are truly missed’: Aussie celebrities pay tribute to ‘legendary’ MAFS and Australian Survivor camera operator Troy Gordon after he tragically dies

A string of Australian celebrities have paid tribute to ‘legendary’ cameraman Troy Gordon following the tragic news of his death.

Troy was a popular crew member on Australian Survivor and Married at First Sight, and more recently played a part in the UK version of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

While no cause of death has been confirmed, news of his passing reached social media this week – and many stars voiced their heartache, saying he would be ‘truly missed’.

Mark ‘Aussie Tarzan’ Herlaar, who starred in Australian Survivor and was ‘Kiosk Kev’ on Britain’s I’m A Celebrity, wrote: ‘Tribute to a great man TROY. R.I.P brother. Loved your company and friendship was great knowing you and working with you.

‘I’ll still be looking for your happy smile and great sense of humor. Take your rest brother, and know you are truly missed .. much love from Tarzan.’

He then posted the same picture to his story, simply captioned: ‘Legend’. 

Channel Nine star Leila McKinnon added: ‘Absolutely heartbreaking, we had so many adventures together, he should have had many more to come, so incredibly sad.’

Survivor star Mat Rogers added: ‘So sad mate. Prayers up brother,’ while Felicity Egginton added: ‘I’m sorry Tarzy. So sad.’

Zach Kozyrski, from season three, added: ‘Just heartbreaking.’

Troy began working in the industry over 30 years ago in 1985, and started his own company, TRG Vision, in 2005 in Brisbane.

According to the Courier Mail, he worked as a news cameraman for years, and covered huge events such as the Gulf War in 1990 and the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake.

He won many awards throughout his successful career, including the coveted Gold Tripod award for cinematography.

Troy had worked on Britain’s I’m A Celebrity since 2017 – which is filmed in Australia – but reportedly was unable to this year due to it being relocated to Wales amid the coronavirus pandemic.
