Sarah Harris announced the death of her grandmother, who she affectionately called ‘Baka’, in a post on Instagram on Monday.

The 39-year-old Studio 10 host revealed her grandmother had died at the age of 92, and shared a series of photos to celebrate her life.  

‘OOOOOHHHHHHHKAYYYYYY. Bye bye Baka. What a firecracker of a woman you were. 92. What a rockstar,’ she captioned the post.

She received an outpouring of sympathy from her followers, with many offering their condolences. 

‘Sending lots of love to you. Grandmas are very special people in our lives,’ commented one fan. 

In one photo, the fresh-faced TV star is seen cuddling up to her grandmother, with the two women resting their foreheads against each other.

Other photos showed ‘Baka’ with Sarah’s two young children, sons Paul, five, and Harry, three, who she shares with her husband of six years, Tom Ward. 

In an interview with The Sydney Morning Herald in June 2014, Sarah revealed she reconnected with her father’s side of the family in Sydney after years of living in Queensland.

She revealed her paternal grandparents had immigrated to Australia from Croatia in the 1950’s.

‘They came to Australia by boat in the 1950’s and built their two-storey brick home by hand,’ she said. 

She added: ‘My nana was mixing concrete when she was pregnant.’ 

Sarah said she would ask her grandmother what her first impressions of Sydney were, and she’d respond: ‘Hot, hot, hot, hate, hate, hate…’
