Superstore spin-off being developed around Johnny Pemberton’s Bo & Nichole Sakura’s Cheyenne characters

While NBC’s hit sitcom Superstore is in the midst of its sixth and final season, the show may live on in the form of a new spin-off series.

NBC has put into development a spin-off centering on Bo (Johnny Pemberton) and Cheyenne (Nichole Sakura), according to Deadline

The project is currently in script development, written by Superstore co-executive producers Bridget Kyle and Vicky Luu.

The spin-off is simply titled Bo & Cheyenne, following the couple as they, ‘balance their big dreams with the harsh realities of being a blue-collar family in America.’

There is no indication if any other Superstore stars will return for the spin-off series at this point.

NBC announced earlier this month that the current sixth season of the show will be Superstore’s last.

Sakura has played Cloud 9 employee Cheyenne Thompson since the beginning of the show.

She started out in the first season as a pregnant high school student, who gave birth to her first child named Harmonica in the Season 1 finale.

Cheyenne married her boyfriend Derek ‘Bo’ Thompson (Pemberton) in the second season, and Cheyenne was recently promoted to floor supervisor.

Bo also debuted in the Superstore pilot, having briefly worked at the Cloud 9 store himself, though he has only recurred on the show.

The actor has appeared in 13 episodes as Bo, Harmonica’s rather immature father who harbors dreams of becoming a rapper.

There is no word yet on if NBC is leaning towards order a pilot for the spin-off, or if there is much more development work to go.
