Kyle Sandilands blasts ‘pest’ Ben Fordham as radio rivalry continues

The feud continues: Kyle Sandilands blasts ‘salesman’ Ben Fordham as he calls the 2GB host ‘over-the-top’ and a ‘pest’

Ben Fordham took over the reins of Alan Jones’ top-rating 2GB breakfast program in June to much success.

And the 44-year-old’s show is so popular that it reaches more listeners every day than Sydney’s FM market leader, The Kyle and Jackie O Show.

But that hasn’t stopped KIIS 106.5 radio host Kyle Sandilands from taking potshots at his rival in the media.

The feud continues: Ben Fordham’s radio segment is currently the most popular breakfast program in Sydney, and on Thursday, his competitor, Kyle Sandilands took a swipe at him

During an interview on the Mediaweek podcast last week, the 49-year-old blasted Ben for being ‘over-the-top’ and a ‘pest’.

‘I don’t mind Ben. He’s just a pest. He’s that sort of over-the-top… he’s like a salesman,’ Kyle said.

‘Fordo’s okay, but he’s like that guy at the front of Target at the weekends with the little microphone getting women to come in and buy the socks.’

He added: ‘People like that. His audience like that. He sounds informed. Doesn’t really know. He’s an alright bloke. There’s nothing wrong with him. He’s just not my cup of tea.’

Ever since Ben took over 2GB’s breakfast slot, he has had an ongoing rivalry with KIIS FM competitor Kyle, which may or may not be tongue in cheek.

Before he started the role, Kyle insisted they had instantly become ‘mortal enemies’.

The shock jock said at the time: ‘If you want to be yelled at by someone who knows nothing, Ben Fordham’s your man.

‘Friend of mine, but now a mortal enemy to the death. I don’t mind Ben as a person, but he’s a little bit of a phony. I’m just being honest here.’

In a previous interview with Daily Mail Australia, Ben gently hit back at Kyle.

‘I think my friend over there just wants to help lift my profile – and for that, I’ll be eternally grateful,’ he joked.

‘You’ve got to expect in a job like this there’s always going to be people expressing their opinions and their views and whatever.

‘And some you take seriously and some you take with a grain of salt. I’ll let you decide which category this falls into.’
