Selena Gomez calls her 2020 successes ‘bittersweet’ as she covers Billboard with Billie Eilish DaBaby and Interscope boss John Janick

Selena Gomez is reflecting on her year, calling her 2020 successes ‘bittersweet’ in a new interview for Billboard magazine.

The Lose You To Love Me songstress, 28, had her album Rare became her third #1 title in January while also releasing a hit beauty line of the same name in September and filming her Hulu series Only Murders In The Building in between.

And though she’s proud of her accomplishments, that star said she has mixed feelings, telling Billboard: ‘I would much rather the world be in a better place. Yet at the same time, it was so beautiful to see that my music could hopefully bring some people some sort of joy in the midst of it.’

What a year: Selena Gomez talked about the ups and downs of 2020 during her cover story for Billboard magazine

Still, Selena said she happy with how Rare, her third solo album, turned out saying: ‘It’s nice to know that Rare became what it became for me.’

Accomplishments: 'Obviously I would like to say that it was the best album that I¿ve released so far. But that doesn¿t mean that I¿m not gonna challenge myself for the next'

Gomez said that she’s currently working on ‘a whole little vessel of good things coming,’ with some reports she has plans for a Spanish-language album.

Matt LaMotte, the senior VP of marketing at Interscope, had high praise for the multi-hyphenate, telling the magazine: ‘She’s a businesswoman and a pop star and all the people who work on Team Selena take that really seriously.’

During the interview she also touched on the track Ice Cream, her collaboration with K-pop girl group Blackpink.

‘Blackpink is an incredible group and their album is awesome, and I thought it would be so fun to step into a whole different world, so it was a no-brainer,’ said Gomez.

‘It was very different from any music I’ve done, but that was the point. The idea of doing something with a dominant girl group, bringing their culture here — and obviously they did equal for me over there — it just seemed so perfect.’

And the ladies had fun with it, also launching their own flavor of ice cream with Serendipity, which Gomez has an ownership stake in.

Recently Selena’s been seen shooting her new show Only Murders In The Building around NYC.
