The telling signs that Margot Robbie is planning a return to Australia after spending years living in London and Los Angeles

She’s one of Australia’s most successful stars in Hollywood.

But according to a report by Who magazine, actress and producer Margot Robbie could be planning a return to her native country of Australia.

And with more productions than ever before being filmed Down Under during the Covid-19 pandemic, it seems like the perfect time for the LA-based star, 30, to come home.

Nicole Kidman’s HBO mini series Nine Perfect Strangers is being filmed in Byron Bay, and Thor: Love and Thunder starring Chris Hemsworth starts production in Sydney next year.

These productions prove it’s more than possible to shoot major American movies in Australia, using Hollywood stars and local crew members.

But the most telling sign yet that a return to Australia is on the cards for Margot is the fact she’s just listed her $1.6million Hollywood Hills home for sale.

Margot and her husband, English film producer Tom Ackerley, purchased the home three years ago, but it now seems they are downsizing their LA property portfolio.

The Birds of Prey star, who spent a few years in London before moving stateside, previously told Stellar Magazine she found it hard to ‘grow roots’ in Los Angeles and was feeling homesick for Australia.

‘Where I am currently residing, it’s difficult to grow roots here. I guess being married changed things,’ she said.

‘Obviously [I miss] big things like my family and my friends, being there to see my nephew grow up, weddings, funerals, all those big important moments where everyone comes together. To be away during those things sucks.’

Another reason to return Down Under could be Margot’s desire to start a family.

‘The truth of the matter is, she can’t wait to be a mum,’ a source told Who magazine.

‘She’s very happy and settled with Tom and it makes sense that they’re ready to take that next step. They have so much love to give and everyone knows they will make good parents.’

In a family way: The publication also suggested that another reason for a return Down Under could be due to Margot's desire to start a family of her own
