Sunrise showbiz reporter Nelson Aspen relocates to Harlem penthouse in New York City

He’s one of the biggest names in the entertainment industry and appeared on Seven Network’s Sunrise in Australia for about 18 years.

And on Wednesday Nelson Aspen revealed he will be permanently based in New York City after a year of house hunting before discovering a penthouse online.

The luxurious property is still under construction and will not be ready for the 57-year-old to move into with his partner until 2021.

On the move! On Wednesday, Sunrise Showbiz reporter Nelson Aspen revealed he was set to move into a Harlem apartment in New York City

‘I was wide awake at 4am and scrolling through my timeline and up popped an ad for the new condominium construction. We had been looking at similar properties in the area, so I guess the iPhone knew us better than the real estate agents,’ he told realestate.com.au

‘By 8am, I’d spoken to the broker and by 11am, took a tour of the model unit. A few days later, I donned a hard hat and took the elevator up to the building site. I guess you could call it ‘love at first site!’

Nelson was born in New York City and has been spending his time between the Big Apple and Hollywood.

He regularly travels for work assignments, and visited Cairns, Perth, Tokyo, Orlando, Kauai, Noumea, Boston, Mexico and Sydney in 2019 alone.

The entertainment guru told the publication he loved the neighbourhood of Harlem as he had been there ‘since my first TV job on the soap opera ‘Search for Tomorrow’ in the early 1980s’ and it was where he and his partner first met.

Earlier this year, he explained the building’s development was delayed by the coronavirus pandemic.

‘Progress has been rapidly picking up and we have almost all our windows in place! Flooring and tiles are on site and awaiting installation,’ he explained in a post sharing pictures of the development on September 14.

‘The excitement is palpable! How many more months til our housewarming???’
