Jeremy had a long-running role as sporty, good-looking student Kurt Peterson in Heartbreak High from 1997 to 1999.

‘It’s about time really… it’s such a good show and it was really important show in our nationality and for kids. It’s a great show for teenagers in particular,’ he said.

‘It really hit on issues that teenagers go through and they don’t really have anything like that to watch. I think it is very timely.’

Jeremy’s character on the show had an alcoholic father and was once hospitalised after an altercation with another student.

The ’90s teen drama tackled important issues, including racism, at the fictional Hartley High.

The drama, which ran from 1994 to 1999 on Channel 10 and the ABC, launched the careers of Ada Nicodemou and Callan Mulvey, among others.

Jeremy has remained in contact with many if his former co-stars, including Callan (Bogdan Drazic), Putu Winchester (Dennis Klinsmann) and Scott Major (Peter Rivers).

In fact, Jeremy worked with Scott last year when his former co-star directed Channel 10’s footy-themed drama Playing for Keeps.

The Dry will open on New Year’s Day, after being pushed back from its original August release date due to Covid-19.

Jeremy plays the father of Eric Bana’s main character in flashback scenes.

Author Jane Harper told Daily Mail Australia she was thrilled with the outcome of the film and thought it definitely has done the novel justice.

‘It is a very sensitive and faithful version of the book, I think,’ she said, hinting that a sequel is hopefully on its way.

The movie is produced by Made up Stories’ Bruna Papandrea, Jodi Matterson and Steve Hutensky.
