Nikki Webster drops her first studio album in 16 years

Nikki Webster stole the hearts of the world when she performed at the 2000 Sydney Olympics at the tender age of 13.

And on Wednesday, the former child star, now 33, sent fans into a whirlwind as she dropped her first studio album in 16 years.

‘I’m so excited to say, I’ve released a brand new album…’ she wrote on Instagram.

Her new album, titled Girls, features 12 original tracks, including Rubix Cube and I’m in Love with a Ghost.

Alongside the exciting announcement, she also unveiled the album’s purple and pink themed cover art. 

Speaking to Nova’s The Babble back in September, Nikki said: ‘I have recorded music, I’ve recorded a whole album that I love and it’s great fun, but I just haven’t released it yet.’

The Strawberry Kisses hitmaker described her new sound as ‘fun’. 

‘It’s fun, it’s pop, it was [written] at a good time in my life… with some writers over in Nashville,’ she explained.

‘I went to write one song, and just ended up completing a whole album, so I do have music there it’s just how to release it and when.’ 

It comes just days after she revealed she is ready to find love again – this time in the limelight.  

‘Australia’s next Bachelorette, could you imagine?!’ she told Woman’s Day.  ‘You know what? I could totally do that! One hundred per cent I’m there – how else do you meet men these days?

‘I’m not one of those people who says “I’m not doing [reality TV] again”, I love supporting the entertainment industry,’ she added.
