Emma Fuhrmann reacts to being replaced by Kathryn Newton in Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania: ‘I will always be grateful’

Emma Fuhrmann has spoken out about the recasting of her previous role.

On Monday, the 19-year-old actress took to Twitter to share her feelings about not being able to play Cassie Lang in the upcoming film Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania.

This past Thursday, it was announced that the role will be filled by 23-year-old Kathryn Newton.

When many of Fuhrmann’s followers reacted to the news, she acknowledged their support, stating: ‘Just wanted to come on here & say that I see all your kind messages. Thank you for all your support. It has meant the world to me.’ 

While the actress opined that she was saddened by the news, she also expressed her desire to work within the Marvel Cinematic Universe further noting that, ‘I can only hope that this means there is something else for me in the future of the MCU.’

The Blended actress then published a second tweet to clarify that she was still happy to have had the chance to work within the franchise.

‘I will always be grateful to have been a part of the MCU & the biggest movie of all time. Being an actress is still my #1 passion & I look forward to what the future holds.’

The character was previously portrayed by Abby Ryder Fortson in the original Ant-Man film and its 2018 sequel, Ant-Man And The Wasp.

When a time-skip of several years occurred in Avengers: Endgame,  Fuhrmann filled the role.

Newton also took to social media to announce her addition to the MCU, and posted a video to her Instagram account of Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige announcing the casting for the upcoming film.

The actress wrote in the caption: ‘Last night I dreamed of being a superhero. #marvel.’

Newton is best known for her role as Abigail Carlson in the HBO mystery series Big Little Lies.

The show ran from 2017 until 2019 and received numerous accolades over its two seasons, including 16 Primetime Emmy Award nominations, ultimately winning half of them.

The actress also starred in the CBS sitcom Gary Unmarried, where she portrayed Louise Brooks, an honors student of divorced parents.

She was featured as a series regular on the Netflix teen drama series The Society, which debuted in 2019 and ran for a single season.
