This is the heartwarming moment a man proposes to his train driver girlfriend as she pulls into a Dublin station at the end of her shift. 

Dublin midwife Clodagh Maher was waiting on the platform when the northbound train to Malahide pulled into the platform and witnessed the happy event. 

In her video, which she uploaded to the internet, there was a man standing at the end of the platform with a large bunch of flowers and a sign. Also, the station’s public address system started blasting out romantic music.

Paula  Carbo Zea, pictured, thanked Dublin midwife Clodagh Maher who filmed the proposal while she was waiting for her train to go home following a 13-hour shift

As the DART train came to a halt, the driver Paula Carbo Zea was greeted by her boyfriend who got down onto one knee.   

Ms Carbo Zea responded to the video on Twitter: ‘Thanks so much for sharing this moment. I was so surprised and at the same time excited. 

‘Thank you everyone who was involved to make this moment beautiful and perfect.’

Ms Maher wrote: ‘Didn’t think anything could perk me up after a busy 13hr shift, and some Gent goes and PROPOSES to his GF driving the incoming train at Pearse Station.’

Author Marian Keyes excitedly responded to the happy video, thanking Ms Maher for sharing the footage and congratulating Ms Carbo Zea for her good fortune. 

Another social media users wrote: ‘Ah jaypers, there’s something in my eye.’ 

Paul Cashin suggested the bride-to-be should ‘get a nice train for her dress’, while Ricky Joyce carried on with the pun by adding it was a great ‘platform on which to build a marriage’.
