Eiza Gonzalez joins Jake Gyllenhaal and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in director Michael Bay’s new thriller Ambulance

After a busy year, Eiza Gonzalez is gearing up for her next project, a thriller entitled Ambulance.

The 30-year-old actress has signed on to star in director Michael Bay’s thriller Ambulance, alongside Jake Gyllenhaal and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.

Michael Bay is directing the film with Universal Pictures coming aboard to distribute the film, according to Deadline, with Gonzalez confirming the news on Instagram.

While no story details have been given, the story is said to be in the same vein as 1990s action-thrillers like Speed and Bad Boys.

The script was written by Chris Fedak (Chuck, Prodigal Son), based on the 2005 Danish thriller Ambulancen.

That film followed two brothers who commit a robbery to pay for their mother’s life-saving operation.

When they realize they can’t use the getaway car they had planned, they steal an ambulance, learning that there is a dying patient awaiting a heart transplant and a hospital intern.

The brothers must decide whether to go back to the hospital and save the patient’s life, while risk getting caught, or continue their getaway.

The script has been making the rounds for quite some time now, with Israeli directors Navot Papushado and Aharon Keshales (Big Bad Wolves) once set to direct.

Gonzalez confirmed her casting on social media, sending out the title page of Fedak’s script on her Instagram page, with three ambulance emojis. 

She also shared a screen grab of the Deadline headline announcing her casting, adding, ‘Still buzzing!!!! Thrilled to say the least.

Production is expected to begin in January, with James Vanderbilt, Bradley Fischer and Will Sherak set to produce.

Gonzalez had two films released in 2020, Bloodshot and Cut Throat City, and she’ll next be seen in I Care A Lot, which was picked up by Netflix for a 2021 debut.

She also stars in the highly-anticipated Godzilla vs. Kong, which is slated for release both in theaters and on HBO Max on May 21, 2021.

Her film Love Spreads was also released in the U.K. last month, starring alongside Alia Shawkat.
