Revealed: The surprising reason the Married At First Sight 2021 cast are seen catching a train in the new trailer

Channel Nine dropped its first full trailer for the eighth season of Married At First Sight on Saturday.

While it may seem confusing to why the show’s upcoming brides and grooms are running around Sydney’s CBD train stations, there’s a simple explanation.

The glitzy new trailer is based on 1998 comedy drama, Sliding Doors, which stars Gwyneth Paltrow and John Hannah.

The film follows the story of a woman whose love life and career both hinge, unknown to her, on whether or not she catches a train. We see it both ways, in parallel.

‘The promo is built around the Sliding Doors concept and the idea that sometimes our lives can be sent down entirely different paths just through the tiniest quirks of fate in our daily lives like missing a train,’ executive producer John Walsh explained.

Speaking to 9Now, John revealed the trailer was filmed alongside real commuters and the brides and grooms had to push the doors open at exactly the right time.

If they missed the opportunity, they would have to wait for the next one to arrive.

The almost two minute clip reveals the hopefuls looking for love on the eighth season of the reality show, set to premiere in 2021.

The new season has already been filming in Sydney’s Lilyfield, with some of the contestants spotted out and about together.
