Katherine Schwarzenegger cradles her baby daughter Lyla Maria during morning walk

She recently described celebrating her newborn daughter Layla Maria’s first Christmas as the ‘big silver lining’ of 2020.

And Katherine Schwarzenegger was spotted looking every bit the doting mother, while enjoying a morning walk with the four-month-old on Saturday in Santa Monica.

The author, 31, kept Layla Maria secured inside a darling denim papoose as she ventured around her neighborhood.

Though she was mostly hidden by her papoose, Layla appeared to be wearing a pale pink onesie and a cozy knit beanie.

Katherine suited up for her chilly stroll through Santa Monica in an oversized long sleeve top and a comfy black vest.

The daughter of Arnold Schwarzenegger also rocked some black sweatpants and a pair of chunky black sneakers.

Katherine’s lengthy brunette hair was kept out of her face and secured with a claw clip, while a pair of sunglasses rested atop her head.

She adhered to California’s strict COVID-19 guidelines by keeping her mouth and nose concealed behind a face mask.

Schwarzenegger, who was joined by a female pal, always kept one hand on Layla Maria as she walked.

Katherine welcomed four-month-old Layla Maria in August, who happens to be her first child with actor husband Chris Pratt, 41. 

On Friday, the daughter of Maria Shriver took to Instagram to express her excitement over Layla’s first Christmas and to reflect on what the holiday seasons means to her and her family amid COVID-19.

‘While this Holiday season will look different for us all, this little ornament my sister Christina got us, and the experience of our daughters first Christmas is a big silver lining of joy and light for me,’ she captioned.

Katherine shared a photo of the ornament, which had ‘first Christmas’ written on the front of it and was shaped like a baby resting inside a stocking.

She continued: ‘2020 has been a crazy year, it’s not what any of us expected; it’s been filled with a lot of challenging times and unpredictable twists and turns.’

Despite the challenges, Katherine admitted that 2020 has ‘been a year of immense joy for those of us who have welcomed life into the world.’  

‘Being pregnant in a pandemic and having a baby too, was not how I expected my pregnancy and becoming a mother to go, but i couldn’t be more thrilled and grateful to have my little Lyla Maria in my life and to be able to be her mom.’

Before closing out her heartfelt Instagram caption, Katherine gave a ‘shout out’ to ‘all the people who had babies this year, became pregnant, are pregnant, or are trying to get pregnant.’ 

‘It’s a wild time to embark on this journey of motherhood and I see you!’

Though this is Katherine’s first child, Pratt also shares a eight-year-old son Jack with ex wife and fellow actor Anna Faris, 44.

Chris met Katherine after his 2018 divorce from Anna and the pair went on to become husband and wife in June of 2019 during a private ceremony in Montecito, CA.
