Jester the giant 20lb rabbit who loves watching STRICTLY on TV is so big he has his own bedroom

Jester the giant 20lb rabbit and Strictly fan is so big he has his very own bedroom upstairs in his owner’s hosue.

Pet owner Lyn Hobson, 60, said her bunny Jester, who weighs the same as three chihuahuas, is ‘like a child’ to her.

The 18-month-old rabbit is ‘spoiled rotten’ and is already pursuing a career in modelling but his favourite thing to do is watch Strictly Come Dancing.

Jester, a 20lb pet rabbit, is a Continental Giant, one of the largest breeds of rabbit, and is so large he has his very own bedroom upstairs in owner’s house. Pictured with owner, Lyn

Jester has free roam of Lyn and her husband’s house near Scunthorpe, North Linconshire, and enjoys the comfort of no less than three different beds dotted around the property.

Lyn said her beloved pet follows her around all day long and is perfectly happy doing as she does, especially if it means sitting on the sofa and watching Strictly Come Dancing.

The retired chef posts pictures of Jester on his own social media pages and has been inundated with messages from new fans, including an author who writes about rabbits.

Since then the Continental Giant, one of the largest breeds of rabbit, has modelled for the front cover of an educational title and as the lead character in a children’s book.

Lyn is hoping the appearances will kickstart Jester’s modelling career and she has created a profile for him on a website which he could be selected for further work from.

She said: ‘Jester is the best pet anyone could wish for.

‘His character is absolutely lovely, he’s very loving, calm and well-behaved.

‘I love him so much and so spoil him rotten, he’s like a child to me really.

‘Everything that I do he follows me along, whether it’s watching television or doing the washing up. He’s very sociable.’

Mum-of-one Lyn, who lives with husband and ex-serviceman Peter, bought Jester at just a few weeks old from a breeder in the North East on April 1, last year which is why he’s called Jester.

She then trained him so that he could live in the house as opposed to in a hutch in the garden like most rabbits which are kept as pets.

Jester is so well-behaved that he has free roam of the house and, according to Lyn, before entering the house from the garden he even wipes his paws.

Jester has three beds in the house including one in his very own bedroom, which is upstairs opposite Lyn and Peter’s room and full of his toys and hay.

She said: ‘People think having a Continental Giant for a pet is a bit funny because not many people have them I suppose.

‘When people see him they always comment on how big he is.

‘Everyone who meets him falls in love, he’s just one of those pets that people are drawn towards.’

Lyn added: ‘He has even been part of two books, which is amazing.

‘He’s unexpectedly a bit of a celebrity in the rabbit world after all this.

‘Hopefully he can do a bit more modelling work next year, especially around Easter, that could be quite busy I think.’

The Continental Giant, also known as the German Giant, is a very large breed of rabbit originally bred for meat.

The longest on record is 4ft 4ins long while the heaviest weighs a whopping 53lbs.
