Melissa Tkautz reveals she was ‘madly in love’ with first boyfriend Simon Baker during E Street   

Melissa Tkautz has revealed that her one-time co-star, and now Hollywood A-lister Simon Baker, was her first love. 

The Australian actress and pop singer, 46, starred alongside the actor, 51, on the soap opera E Street in the 1990s.  

Simon played policeman Sam Farrell on the show between 1992 and 1993, while Melissa starred as Nikki Spencer between 1990 and 1993.

The singer told Stellar magazine this week: ‘Simon was the first person I could say I was madly in love with.’ 

She added:  ‘I’d never had a teenage boyfriend or anything like that. He was a beautiful man and such a sweet guy.’ 

Melissa also dated another co-star – Marcus Graham, 57, who is 11 years her senior,  and says she has only had a few serious romances.

‘It was Simon, then Marcus, then I had another relationship and in the next one, I got married,’ she said.  

Melissa has two children – daughter Ayla, 10, and son Cuba, seven, with husband Kwesi Nicholas, who she married in 2009. 

Simon meanwhile has been married to actress Rebecca Rigg, 52, since 1998. They have three children – Stella Breeze, 27, Claude Blue, 21, and Harry Friday, 19.

He became a Hollywood A-lister thanks to his starring role on hit TV series The Mentalist between 2008 and 2015.     

Joining the cast of the soap at age 16, Melissa’s character was so popular that she released a single – Read My Lips – which was promoted on the show. 

Speaking of her time on E Street, Melissa added:  ‘I was very young and very innocent, and I needed that. If it had been too wild, it would have freaked me out because I came from a very sheltered childhood.’

‘I wasn’t allowed to do anything and then all of a sudden, I was on a TV show, going to’ she added.    

Melissa recently made a return to the spotlight starring on reality show The Real Housewives of Sydney.

She has not ruled out a return to music, and will next be seen in the Australian horror film The Possessed.
