Dionne Warwick says ‘social media should be used for fun’ after viral moment with Chance the Rapper

Dionne Warwick recently became a viral sensation when she tweeted at Chance the Rapper asking why he decided to put ‘the Rapper’ in his stage name.

With her newly minted status as Queen of Twitter, the music legend exclusively chatted with DailyMailTV’s senior correspondent Alicia Quarles about how she approaches social media.

Living legend: Dionne Warwick, the new Queen of Twitter, exclusively chatted with DailyMailTV’s senior correspondent Alicia Quarles about her hilarious approach to social media

Warwick, an eight-time Grammy winner, is an unlikely social media star but she went viral earlier this month after posing hilariously obvious questions to Chance the Rapper and The Weeknd about their chosen monikers.

With over 158K Twitter followers to her name, the songbird told DailyMailTV that she takes a lighthearted approach when it comes to tweeting.

‘You know, I think that social media should be used for just that fun, you know, nothing crazy or outlandish or, you know, something that’s not quite presentable that you wouldn’t do ordinarily just because it’s done on an internet,’ Dionne said.

Fun is exactly the word to describe her now infamous exchange with Chance the Rapper that ultimately lead to the pair collaborating on a new song for charity.

When Chance first saw that Warwick was tweeting at him he was shocked that the living legend would even give him the time of day.

‘Sorry I’m still freaking out that u know who I am. This is amazing!’ tweeted the hitmaker in stunned response.

To celebrate entering into the next decade of her life, Dionne is throwing a virtual soiree. She explained to DailyMailTV that the event won’t be a concert but it will be a get together of good friends for a good cause.

'It's all in your heart and in your head how you handle it, you know,' she said of thriving in her eighties. 'I have enough a lot to live for and a lot to do yet. And until all that is done is said, I'm going to be hanging out doing what I do to do - me.'
