Candice and David Warner reveal that their mistakes and scandals brought them closer together and made them ‘stronger as a team’

They are cricket’s golden couple, but David and Candice Warner have faced their fair share of scandals in the past. 

On Friday, the couple admitted that their past mistakes have brought them closer together and made them ‘stronger’. 

In an interview with the Herald Sun, they explained that ‘without mistakes, you don’t grow’.

‘When you f— up a lot you know what to do,’ a candid David told the publication. 

Candice added: ‘Through your mistakes is how you learn. Without mistakes you don’t have as big a growth.’ 

David went on to say that no matter if you have the right ‘outlook’, everyone ‘will make a mistake’ and people shouldn’t ‘judge’.

‘At the end of the day anyone can judge, but you can’t judge until you’re perfect and unfortunately no one is perfect,’ he said.  

Back in 2018 David found himself in the midst of controversy after he became involved in the infamous ball tampering scandal. 

David, former Australian captain Steve Smith and player Cameron Bancroft were slapped with bans for conspiring to cheat against South Africa in March 2018 by rubbing the ball with sandpaper.

However, the Iron woman, went on to explain that she and David work through their mistakes as ‘a team’ and it makes them ‘stronger’.  

‘We work very well as a team. Individually we’ve always been good, but together we’re much stronger and we get better results as a team,’ she said. 

The couple were married in 2015 and they share three daughters Ivy, 6, Indi, 4, and Isla, 18 months together.
