Amy Adams has been confirmed to reprise her role as Princess Giselle from the live-action film, Enchanted, for a new Disney Plus original feature, according to Variety.
The highly-anticipated sequel, which is titled Disenchanted, was announced at the Disney Investor Day by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures’ President of Production Sean Bailey on Thursday.
At this time, it has not been disclosed whether the the 46-year-old star will be joined by her original costars Patrick Dempsey, James Marsden and Idina Menze.

A parody of Disney classics, the first movie featured archetypal princess Giselle being catapulted into modern New York, where she rejects Prince Edward (James Marsden) in favor of divorce-lawyer Robert Phillip (Patrick Dempsey).
Audiences loved the concept, and rewarded the film with over $340 million in worldwide box office – and Disney has reportedly been developing the sequel since 2010.
Four years ago, Adams spoke to ITV’s Good Morning Britain about looking forward to Disenchanted, which she said was ‘set 10 years after [the original].’

At the time, it was reported to focus on Giselle ‘questioning her happily ever after, and accidentally triggering events that make everyone’s lives turn upside down in both the real world and in the animated kingdom of Andalasia.’
In 2007, the two-time Golden Globe winner told Entertainment Weekly she loves ‘playing characters who have big hearts and really believe in something.’
She continued: ‘I’ve been in a lot of smaller films that weren’t appropriate to take my niece and nephew to, so I needed a movie to get to bring them to. I come from a musical theater background, and it was so much fun to get to do that.’

The news comes as a surprise after Amy previously referred to Enchanted as the ‘perfect standalone movie.’
She said: ‘It has a great beginning, a great middle, and a great end. I watched it recently, because I typically don’t watch my work a lot, and I thought, I really like that movie.
‘It was nice to revisit that work and have really positive feelings about it. But I think it works so well.’

James Marsden has also expressed interest in a second film, saying: ‘We all hoped it would happen. I don’t understand why they never did it.’
He argued: ‘It was a very successful movie. But at some point when the gray hairs start coming, you can’t really play the quintessential animated prince anymore.’
The much-loved Disney comedy garnered three Academy Award nominations in the Best Original Song category — for Happy Working Song, So Close, and That’s How You Know.
Disney+ also announced a live-action of Pinocchio, Chip N’ Dale: Rescue Rangers, Peter Pan Wendy and Sister Act 3.
