A new trailer for Gerard Butler’s apocalyptic adventure Greenland dropped Wednesday ahead of its December 18 Video On Demand release.

In the film, Butler stars with Morena Baccarin as an estranged couple who, along with their young son, seek sanctuary as a comet hurtles towards earth threatening a global apocalypse.

Their only hope of survival, it seems, is to make it to a group of bunkers in Greenland.

The trailer opens with Butler standing next to a line of stopped cars looking towards smoke in the distance.

‘What’s happening?’ Baccarin asks him after he returns to their vehicle.

‘A train derailed and blocked the highway,’ he replies.

Then an emergency message comes over the radio: ‘If you are hearing this broadcast seek shelter immediately.’

Suddenly fire rains down from the sky setting cars on fire.

The movie, which has already played in theatres in international markets, was moved to digital by STX Entertainment after the COVID-19 pandemic repeatedly postponed its theatrical release in North America.

Greenland becomes available on digital VOD on December 18 with a 48-hour rental priced at $19.99.

The movie will be released on the HBO Max streaming service sometime in 2021 after the platform shelled out between $20 million and $30 million for the rights.
