Both medical shows had finished filming seasons before the Covid-19 pandemic hit, forcing the state of Victoria into lockdown.

Australia entered its first lockdown in March, but an outbreak in Melbourne led to a second lockdown in July, which was subsequently extended by a further six weeks.

The restrictions were eased last month.

The medical programs weren’t the only TV shows to be affected by the pandemic: The Block, which is also filmed in Melbourne, had to limit the number of people working on building sites this year.

Production also installed hand-sanitising stations around the building site and hired a nurse to perform regular temperature checks.
