The 28-year-old rapper (real name Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar) tweeted on Sunday afternoon, ‘Should I spend 88K for this damn purse ? Omggg it’s tempting.’

It didn’t take long for fans to drag her on Twitter for talking about spending an exorbitant amount of money on a purse during a global pandemic, but the rapper literally put her money where her mouth is, donating to some worthy causes and clapping back at the haters.

The initial tweet got over 7,800 responses, many from fans asking to pay them through CashApp or other means.

Others asked her to donate that money to any number of worthy causes, and it turns out the rapper did both, but not before letting fans know how much she has already donated.

She shared a screengrab of an article headline that reveals she donated $1 million to COVID-19 relief.

She also added in another tweet, ‘Also I donated a million dollars to fans thru cashapp 2 months ago.’

The Bodak Yellow rapper also shared the headline of an April article from Variety that revealed she donated 20,000 meal supplements to New York medical staffers.

She then started responding to fans through quote retweets, first to a fan who suggested she donate the $88K to a charity.

Her response was, ‘I already donated 2 million dollars this year and I’m doing something very special in a another country that will be done with next year.What have you donated ?’

Another fan suggested that she ask her celebrity friends about the $88K purse, and not tweeting about it in a time where so many are struggling.

She then posted a challenge for her fans, asking them to post receipts of what they have donated, and she will match their donations.

She also responded to New York Post journalist Yashar Ali, who said, ‘It doesn’t matter how much money you give away, tweeting about buying an $88,000 purse in the midst of a pandemic where people are skipping meals and terrified that they’ll be evicted, is deeply insensitive and unnecessary. She chose to tweet it out.’
