Katie Lee responds to Instagram user who criticized how much she ‘holds’ her newborn daughter Iris

Katie Lee, who welcomed her daughter Iris Marion in September, proved she has zero patience for mom shaming during her most recent Instagram Q&A.

Sharing a screenshot to her Story, the Food Network star, 39, received some unsolicited advice from a follower regarding how much she ‘holds’ her newborn.

‘I’m sure you’d been told this but it’s not good to hold Iris so much,’ the follower began, adding: ‘She needs time for her back/spine/stomach and muscles to develop.’

In an attempt to stave off backlash, the follower insisted they were ‘not a Karen’ but were, instead, ‘just trying to help’ the new mom out.

Lee, clearly ticked off by the absurd Q&A submission, shared the direct message with her 855,000 followers.

‘Mom shame, much?’ Lee commented, adding: ‘Not to worry, my baby gets plenty of tummy time, activity time, etc.’

In an attempt to reassure Katie, one fan shared her own experience with constantly holding her baby as they napped and insisted that it never led to any issues.

‘Messages like these are why I love my followers,’ wrote the American chef in reply.

Katie announced the arrival of her first child, daughter Iris Marion, via Instagram on September 3.

‘Welcome, baby Iris Marion Biegel,’ she captioned. ‘9.2.20, Our hearts are so full.’

Along with her joyous text, Lee included a makeup-free snapshot of herself cradling Iris in a hospital bed.

Besides addressing mom shamers, Katie used her Instagram Q&A on Thursday to give her fans some insight on her first few months of motherhood.

One follower wondered if the acclaimed author had sought the help of a nanny because she seems ‘to be handling being a new mom so well.’

But Katie revealed that her and her husband ‘do not use a nanny/baby nurse,’ but at one point they considered it.

‘Our pre-pandemic plan was to have someone help us out, but we are both working from home, we did not,’ she replied.

Lee admitted that she is ‘glad it worked out that way’ because she ‘love[s] doing everything for [Iris]’ and ‘it has been an incredible bonding experience.’

Someone else asked Katie share ‘tips’ about breastfeeding, but the Kitchen co-host said that she is ‘not sure [she has] any great tips.’

But she did stress that patience is key and that ‘if you need formula, don’t let anyone shame you,’ adding: ‘Do what’s right for you and your baby!’
