Artist Geri, who shares her teenager with her ex Sacha Gervasi and her three-year-old son Monty with her husband Christian Horner, explained how she ‘re-embarked on re-establishing’ her perception of food.

The Wannabe hitmaker shared: ‘I realised actually you can start loving it, having fun with it, and it’s a way of relating with people – and it reminded me of when I was little and I was making cakes with my aunty Doreen.

‘I had always wanted a good relationship with food so my daughter would have it, so she wouldn’t be like how I was when I was growing up – always on a diet and had no interest whatsoever.

‘As a world we are moving in a different direction now anyway. Yes, we want to be gorgeous but we’re letting go of perfect. I think we’re bored of it.’

Expressing the significance of parenthood in her life, the TV star added: ‘My favourite thing – better than cake or having a number one record – is being a mother, I love it!

‘When you watch them grow, I feel I’ve had a part in shepherding them into that place.’

The media personality previously detailed her eating disorder, which took place while she was in the Spice Girls.

WHAT IS BULIMIA NERVOSA?

According to the NHS, bulimia is ‘an eating disorder and mental health condition’

‘People who have bulimia go through periods where they eat a lot of food in a very short amount of time and then make themselves sick’, the website adds,

The eating disorder is most common in young women, and sufferers often have a distorted image of their figures

Symptoms include:

  • Binge eating
  • Purging
  • Fear of putting on weight
  • Critical about weight and body shape
  • Extreme mood changes

Speaking on OWN’s Where Are They Now? back in 2016, the artist explained: ‘I started being bulimic and no one would notice it because your body weight stays pretty much the same. It’s bloody dangerous.’

‘I felt much more conscious of myself, my body weight. We all used different tools to get by, coping mechanisms. For me [it] was controlling my body weight.’

Geri shared that she eventually overcame her illness with the help of 12-step meetings.
