‘Human Barbie’ who spent $81,000 on her look reveals she is encouraging her son, 19, to get nose job

A woman who has spent her life transforming into a ‘human Barbie’ has revealed that she is encouraging her teenage son to get a nose job for Christmas.

Marcela Iglesias, 43, has shelled out nearly $81,000 for cosmetic procedures over the years and now believes that surgery will make her 19-year-old son, Rodrigo, happy.

Rodrigo has already had less-invasive approaches such as Botox injections into the tip of his nose but now wants to go under the knife.

His model mother, from Los Angeles, who is often mistaken for her son’s girlfriend or sister, fully supports his choice despite Rodrigo’s young age.

‘He has manifested that he doesn’t like the shape of his nose,’ Marcela said.

‘The procedure will help him to be more comfortable taking pictures.

‘He has tried some units of Botox at the tip of his nose, which prevent his nostrils from looking “wider” – but it just lasted for a couple of months.

‘My worst fear is if he comes home with a nose job saying, “Well Mom, see I got it done and you were not part of it!”

‘I would feel be very disappointed and terrible not to support my son.

Marcela defended her choice further by stating that Rodrigo (pictured together) was recently diagnosed with a mildly deviated septum so the surgery could further his ability to breathe

‘There are risks, of course, just like when he drives every day to the gym or work, but I can not control his decisions.

‘I know that when the surgery or procedure is done by a professional who knows exactly what he’s doing, there’s 99 per cent chance it will be successful.

‘Also his nose does not require a lot of work as I think the bone won’t have to be broken – just the tip will be refined.’

Marcela defended her choice further by stating that Rodrigo was recently diagnosed with a mildly deviated septum so the surgery could further his ability to breathe.

The mother-of-one said: ‘The deviated septum means he cannot breathe as well through one nostril – so he told me “if I do the surgery to correct that, maybe at the same time I will fix my nose aesthetically”.

‘He doesn’t like the tip of his nose – so he just wants to perfect something for himself, not to please anybody else.’

Marcela insists she would not approve just any surgery.

She added: ‘If he was overweight and told me that he wants liposuction, I would never accept it – because the first thing is to work out to burn the fat, not the easy route of sucking it out, which actually does not work and he can just use our Edgecross-X to build muscle like I do.

‘In order to achieve a chiseled look, you need to work out, period.

‘Nothing will get you in better shape than exercise and diet, no questions asked.

‘My son has an amazing bone structure and great hair. He follows a healthy diet and beauty regimens.

‘He loves fashion and works out six days a week with me on the Edgecross-X and at the gym.

‘But when it comes to the face… well there is no such thing as fitness for noses.’

Marcela adds that her son’s situation is quite common where they live.

She said: ‘We are in the mecca of plastic surgery.

‘There are many mothers and fathers that give birthday surgeries as gifts, in my case he is the one that wants the procedure, not me.

‘It is pretty normal here to get some procedure done, not a taboo or problem.

‘As a mother, the only thing that we can do is support the decision and guide them to the best of expertise we have.

Marcela said that although her son (pictured) has 'an amazing bone structure and great hair' many of his friends have undergone similar procedures

‘I told him that it’s his decision because it’s his body and we talk about the pros and cons and everything that can happen, but he has so many friends that have already done it.

‘And for them at least, so far so good – and they all did it at a younger age.

‘He looks at them and loves the results.’

Marcela has created a social media platform called Plastics Of Hollywood where she shares updates on Rodrigo and why she is letting him have cosmetic surgery on his face.

Rodrigo said: ‘I was the one who wanted the nose job, she never told me to get it. It’s not a big issue that I have, I think I would just look a little better if I got one but I’m not super crazy about it.

‘She’s helping me find some doctors because she wants me to go to the best person.

‘It could happen for Christmas and I’m so excited about that. It could be fun, not gonna lie!’

Marcela herself has been incredibly open and honest about her love of cosmetic procedures, regularly documenting the various cutting-edge treatments she has undergone in order to maintain her youthful looks.

The mom, who admits her teenage son used to get embarrassed by strangers’ assumptions, keeps up her age-defying looks with the help of $1,000-a-year Botox sessions, stem cell therapy and lip and cheek filler.

Despite spending $1,000 per year on Botox, Marcela said in September that she hasn’t had any plastic surgery – but she has had filler in her lips and cheeks to maintain her youthful looks, as well as stem cell therapy.

In a stem cell facelift doctors take stem cell-enriched tissue from fatty areas such as the stomach or inner thigh and inject it back into the face.

Marcela said: ‘I started getting Botox and fillers in my thirties. I get it to maintain and enhance my natural looks.

In early 2019, Marcela then had 70 collagen injections in her stomach to tighten her muscles in what was believed to be the world's first 'spider web abs' procedure

‘I have also had stem cell therapy which meant I was injected with 30 million stem cells. It is to repair and generate healthier and new cells.

‘But I have never had any other cosmetic procedures – I definitely think less is more. I am not against surgery, but I do think if you get too much – it can make you look older.’

She added: ‘However, I would be open to a face lift in the future if I need one. I also lead a stress-free life and quit smoking which is a key ingredient to looking younger.

In addition, Marcela has also undergone a spider web butt lift that saw doctors injecting 100 collagen threads into her derriere to lift it.

The mom-of-one had the unusual $3,000 procedure done in late 2018 in order to stimulate collagen in her bottom, with the aim of tightening the muscles and keeping her skin supple.

Fearing the effects of aging could leave her bottom droopy, Marcela underwent the non-invasive cutting-edge procedure – and said that it was ‘completely painless’.

At the time, she said she hopes that cosmetic procedures like the spider web butt lift – and others she’s tried including leech therapy – and a healthy lifestyle will keep her looking younger for longer.

Less than a year later, doctors gave her the world’s first ever spider web abs, using the same kind of procedure in order to help Marcela regain the six pack that she had in her youth.

In February 2019, Marcela hit headlines again when she revealed that she was ingesting five live bugs every day in a bid to avoid cancer

In February 2019, Marcela hit headlines again when she revealed that she was ingesting five live bugs every day in a bid to avoid cancer

Much like her butt lift, the $2,000 procedure was done with the aim of tightening her muscles and keep her core strong.

The results from the procedure, completed by Dr Aleix Bazzi, took around three months to show fully and were expected to last around a year.

Marcela’s quest to maintain a youthful and healthy physique hit the headlines again in February 2019, when she spoke out to defend herself against critics after revealing that she was consuming five live insects a day in a bid to avoid cancer.

Last year, she confessed that she was ingesting five Chinese weevils a day – either swallowing them raw or taking them in a shot of water or celery juice.

She was keeping her colonies – known in her home county of Argentina, as ‘Gorgojo Chino’ – in her living room and insisted at the time that they are very low maintenance.

Marcela said she believes the bugs can reduce the growth of cancerous tumors – supporting the immune system as well as combating arthritis, chronic pain and digestive issues.

Eating them alive means that once in the digestive system the bugs supposedly release ‘coleotoxins’ which are believed to have multiple health benefits.

Medical studies are yet to conclusively substantiate the claims. One study from 2011 found that consuming bugs reduced tumor cell growth by more than 70 per cent, while others state it has no benefit.
