Corrie’s Katie McGlynn pays tribute to late Grandma Joan

Coronation Street‘s Katie McGlynn has paid tribute to her Grandma Joan, two months after she passed away. 

Taking to Instagram on Thursday, the 27-year-old, best known for playing Sinead Tinker, said: ‘She would still be here today if it wasn’t for the pandemic’. 

While she didn’t specify if her grandma contracted Covid or if the pandemic simply affected her quality of life, she discussed missing her this Christmas. 

She penned: ‘I’m not one to post much about my personal life, but it feels so strange getting ready for Christmas without our Grandma Joan with us… 

‘It’s been 2 months and I still don’t think it’s really sunk in that we’ll never see/speak to her again. 

‘I think she would have still been here today if it wasn’t for the pandemic, she would’ve been 85 years young on Boxing Day and she certainly lived a kooky life! 

‘But it has left a huge hole in our family and it will take some getting used too.’ [sic].

She continued: ‘You were surrounded by so much love and really will be missed but you’re with your soulmate Grandad Denis now. 

‘You both were such a massive influence in my life and I’m so thankful to have known you and I miss you both dearly. 

‘You’re always in my thoughts…rest in peace Grandma Joan ❤️.’ 

As well as sharing a lovely picture of herself with Joan, Katie also shared a picture of her grandma on her wedding day to husband Denis.  

Meanwhile, Katie departed Corrie last year when character Sinead Tinker was killed off.

And she has been filming on her first role since leaving the soap, getting into character for BBC’s The Syndicate in September.

She filmed scenes alongside Emmerdale’s Emily Head and Katherine Rose Morley at a dog kennel in Yorkshire.

Katie’s heartbreaking final scenes on Corrie aired in October, with fans left in tears as Sinead lost her battle with cervical cancer, passing away and leaving husband Daniel devastated.
