Catherine Tyldesley looks chic as she leads the arrivals at rehearsals for her new play The Ceremony

She left Coronation Street in search of new projects before appearing on the 2019 series of Strictly Come Dancing.

And Catherine Tyldesley led the arrivals for rehearsals of her new play The Ceremony in Leeds on Thursday.

The former Corrie star, 37, has written the production and will be starring in it this month for a 10 performance run.

Catherine looked stylish as she joined her co-stars Sue Johnston, Paula Lane and Jodie Prenger at an empty Leeds Grand Theatre. 

The former Strictly star opted for a pair of stylish grey high-waisted flared trousers with a black high-neck jumper adorned with sheer dotted sleeves.

Finishing her ensemble, Catherine wrapped up warmly in a belted camel coat and white trainers.

Adding some accessories, the soap star opted for a grey handbag and a matching coloured baker boy hat.

Catherine styled her brunette locks into a sleek straightened hairdo and added a slick of minimal make-up.   

The star will also be joined on stage by Stephen Rahman-Hughes and Emmerdale actress Samantha Giles.

The Ceremony, filmed on stage at the Leeds City Varieties Music Hall, will stream online for just 10 performances starting from 13 December.  

All proceeds from the play will be donated to Acting For Others – an organisation who have been strongly hit by the pandemic, as well as the Theatre Artist Fund and Leeds Heritage Theatres. 

Speaking about her new venture, Catherine said: ‘I’m super excited about my first play going into production!

‘I wrote ‘The Ceremony’ during lockdown. I’ve managed to assemble my dream cast along with one of my all-time favourite directors, the brilliant Lee Salisbury. 

‘Writing has always been close to my heart and to finally see my words brought to life by such incredible talent, is nothing short of a dream come true. 

‘I’m hopeful people will love the play as much as we do and I’m thrilled we can raise money for the arts at the same time.’

The synopsis of the play, reads: ‘Following a string of appearances on daytime chat shows and armed with fifty quid’s worth of Ayahuasca from Bury Market, the scene is set for Donna to make her first ever attempt to contact the spirit world… 

‘What could possibly go wrong? The evening soon derails into chaos, tears and laughter, as her oblivious guests purge themselves of their hidden ghosts.’

Catherine recently showcased the hard work that goes into being a leading lady on as she took to Instagram to share a sensational fitness snap.

The former soap star donned a matching set of green and black leggings and sports bra that showed off her gym-honed abs.

The actress held her arms in the air and clenched her biceps in order to reveal the full extent of her magnificent form. 

Catherine grinned at the camera for the photograph, with a light slick of gloss and eyeliner accentuating her natural beauty.  

Explaining the significance of her gym pose, Catherine explained in the caption that she has recently reached a fitness milestone.

The brunette beauty penned:  ‘It’s taken such a long time after a huge battle with hormonal imbalances/injuries/ meds a few months back. But… my fitness is finally getting back on track!!!’
