AJ told hosts Declan Donnelly and Ant McPartlin: ‘It feels like a celebration coming out of there. We’ve made friends for life definitely.’

The ballroom pro continued: ‘I’ve made so many memories in such a short space of time. I thought I was going to be sick on the helicopter on day one. You don’t know what to expect, you watch the show as a superfan but this has been so much better.’

AJ was quizzed on his clash with Shane, which happened when the dancer was unimpressed by the actor’s cleaning efforts ‘If you’re going to do a job do it properly, you know, come on,’ said AJ, with Ant saying he was on his side.

When asked by Dec if it was frustrating when people didn’t pull their weight, AJ replied: ‘Maybe I’m not going to lie. I think if you’re going to do your job do it properly it’s much better between everyone else.

‘The thing is resolving problem and not letting them fester. Shane was really ill at times, you have highs and lows.

‘Everybody was positive it was rewarding.’

Ant and Dec then went on to interview Mo. During the eviction interview, the athlete spoke of why he took part in the show: ‘Part of me was like “can I challenge myself?”

‘All I wanted to know is can I go in and challenge myself. I mean I know I can run. It’s been an amazing journey, I wouldn’t change one thing.

‘I let go and was myself. It’s amazing. The challenges were brutal. It was hard but you wanted to challenge yourself.’

When asked about who they wanted to win, both said they wanted Giovanna Fletcher to win.

‘She’s so positive, she does so much for so many people. She picked me up when I was down’, said AJ.

Mo and AJ were tasked with remembering symbols on shields, which they had to do while covered in bugs and spun around for 60 seconds.

The pair had three rounds, with two stars up for grabs in each round.  The pair told Ant and Dec that AJ would focus on the top two lines, while Mo was in charge of remembering the bottom two.

Challenge: The Olympic gold medallist and the dancer were tasked with remembering the symbols on the reverse of each number on a board of 16 shields as they were covered in bugs

Difficult: While it seemed simple enough, the task was made more difficult when Declan Donnelly informed them they'd have to memorise the symbols while they were spun around

However as the dias started spinning, the duo were covered in cockroaches, crickets, mealworms and maggots causing them to get distracted.

They failed to win any points in the first round but  during the next round, they both got the questions correct so won two stars.

After the shields moved around again, Mo got his wrong symbol wrong but AJ was right meaning they won another star, getting total of three overall.

The duo transported food into Humphrey’s starter main and dessert pails, but as the buckets were tied on chains they had to throw the food from one to the other.

While it was not an easy task, and the pair accidentally covered each other in some of Humphrey’s food, they did succeed, with AJ helping to finish the task by carrying the final molasses in his wellington boot.

After winning the bag of coins from Humphrey’s mouth they were offered to either take the remaining treats from home for AJ, Giovanna and Jordan, or a fruit platter, and Jessica chose the former.
