Billy Bob Thornton gets back on set to film the fourth and final season of hit show Goliath in Los Angeles

Billy Bob Thornton is back to work as he begins filming for season four of the hit legal drama Goliath.

The 65-year-old actor, who won a 2017 Golden Globe for his role as conflicted lawyer Billy McBride in the Amazon show, was seen gearing up to shoot some scenes while on set in LA Monday.

Thornton had a few costume changes while filming, first seen out walking with fellow castmate Nina Arianda, 36, and a hair and makeup artist.

Rocking two different looks while filming outside, the Monster’s Ball actor was seen first in grey skinny jeans and worn in brown boots with a taupe button down and yellow jacket.

Suited up in a black face mask as productions continue to adhere to CDC guidelines, he held a clear face shield in his hand for added safety.

Thornton appeared to be getting ready to make some on screen magic, looking animated as he threw up his hands while speaking.

Later in the day he was seen sporting a darker outfit which teamed black jeans with a button down and a large black wool coat.

The on-set outing comes only two weeks after Amazon confirmed it was moving forward with production on the show which is reported to be the final season.

SafeSet released a press release in early October however, that announced they were in the process of gearing up to shoot with safety procedures in place.

‘The SafeSet COVID-19 Compliance System helps Goliath’s COVID-19 compliance team and others on set ensure that cast and crew are in compliance with testing protocols that minimize the risk of COVID-19 transmission,’ it read.

Despite the pandemic halting many productions, fans were also left wondering if Thornton would be signing on again as his character McBride was last seen bleeding out in a car at the end of season three.

In a 2019 interview with Entertainment Weekly Billy Bob spoke about returning for another season if the project was green-lit.

‘If they’re inclined to do another season, I think I would be inclined to. I think they would be because it’s been a successful show for them. So if we can figure out a way to get me back out there, it could happen,’ he added.

In character: Thornton has said in many interviews that he loves playing the character and sometimes feels so connected to McBride that he feels like the show incidents are actually happening to him as a person; still from Goliath

Teasing that season four would be darker in another interview he said, ‘I do know that it’s probably gonna be heavier than the third season,’ adding that the general mood on set was always fun and he loved the experience of making the show.

He continued to tell Collider that he will ‘eventually’ go back to shooting movies, ‘But for right now, I love playing this character. There’s no reason to not want to play it. It’s been such a great experience.’

The season is currently slated for release in 2020 and seems contingent on COVID-19 cases not shutting down production.
