Lindsay Lohan breaks her silence on I’m a Celebrity Australia rumours

Lindsay Lohan breaks her silence on rumours she’s secretly filming I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! in Australia

Lindsay Lohan has revealed she will not be appearing as a contestant on the new season of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! Australia.

The 34-year-old actress confirmed this week to Abbey Mikkelsen, a producer on The Ben, Rob & Robbo Show, that she wasn’t involved in the program whatsoever.

When asked if she was entering the jungle, the Mean Girls star replied: ‘Haha who said I’m a celebrity.. get me out of there [sic]? I’ve never heard this.’

Not happening: Lindsay Lohan has revealed she will not be appearing as a contestant on the new season of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! Australia

I’m a Celebrity is being pre-recorded in Murwillumbah, NSW, this year, instead of the usual live broadcast from Kruger National Park in South Africa, which was scrapped due to Covid-19 restrictions.

The Channel 10 production has taken over the set of the British version of the show, which this year is being filmed in a castle in Wales.

Rumours of Lindsay’s involvement surfaced last month, when New Idea magazine reported that producers had locked in the star after years of failed attempts.

At the time, her appearance on the show seemed plausible because she’d already been confirmed as a judge for another hit Channel 10 series, The Masked Singer.

Lindsay had been on the guessing panel for The Masked Singer’s first season in 2019, but was unable to film season two this year due to border closures and was replaced by Kiwi comedian Urzila Carlson.

Her return to the franchise in 2021 was first reported by Ren, Rob and Robbo in mid-November, and was later confirmed on social media by Lindsay’s mother, Dina.

Channel 10 boss Beverly McGarvey had previously stated there was ‘wiggle room’ for Lindsay to come back in some capacity for The Masked Singer next year.

‘We love all the talent that we had on this year and we love Lindsay,’ the chief content officer and EVP of ViacomCBS Australia said.

‘Our feeling at this point is that it feels fairly ambitious to think our borders are going to be open anytime soon.

‘Obviously we would love to have all our internationals back once we can, but I just don’t know when that’s going to be.’

It is unclear if Urzila will be leaving the show as a result of Lindsay’s return, or if the judging panel will increase to five people next year.

Lindsay’s comeback will be a sweet note for The Masked Singer, which saw a 37 per cent drop in its ratings for season two this year – although it was still considered a success.

I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! will premiere on January 3 on Channel 10
