I’m A Celeb: Giovanna Fletcher breaks down in tears as she misses out on receiving gift from home

Giovanna Fletcher broke down in tears as she missed out on receiving a gift from home during Sunday’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

Becoming emotional, the blogger, 35, admitted her ‘heart aches’ as she, AJ Pritchard and Jordan North were the only campmates to not hear back from their loved ones after completing three challenges together.

The camp leader, who shares sons Buzz, six, Buddy, four, and Max, two, with husband Tom, said in the Telegraph: ‘How lovely would it be to hear from Tom and the boys, just a sentence?

‘Your heart aches and then you attach yourself to anything… it’s a sentence and I’m going to pretend each sentence anyone gets is from the kids and I’m going to adopt them like they’re mine.’

The episode kicked off with Giovanna informing her celebrity co-stars that they could win treats from home, as well as a hearty meal for the evening.

The stars were tasked with challenges to win keys to open boxes – with only some of the objects containing access to dinner and treats from home.

EastEnders’ Jessica Plummer, BBC Radio 1 star Jordan and tenor Russell Watson were chosen to take on The Keys and The Dragon, in which they received all 10 keys for transferring water into containers in a boat by using oars and a leaky bucket.

Giovanna joined former Strictly professional AJ, soap star Shane Richie and Corrie’s Beverley Callard for The Lion and The Serpent, which saw them face an air hockey table.

The pucks positioned on the large shield contained keys, with the group being required to use another set of plain tools to knock them into a hole.

‘It looked easier than I thought’, comedian Shane, 56, joked, before Beverley, 63, added: ‘50% success, 50% failure’ as they only managed to retrieve five out of 10 keys.

Presenter Vernon Kay, actress Ruthie Henshall, runner Mo Farah and journalist Victoria Derbyshire were next up as they worked in pairs to manoeuvre keys along a raised wobble board.

Mo, 37, and Ruthie, 53, teamed up to scoop two keys, while TV stars Vernon, 46, and Victoria, 52, won five keys.

Unfortunate: If the stars found a treat in their boxes, they had to nominate who would also receive theirs, while an empty box meant the key was lost, but the author failed to get chosen

The campmates took keys from the bucket to open a box, with a star equalling a meal. If the stars found a treat in their boxes, they had to nominate who would also receive theirs, while an empty box meant the key was lost.

AJ earmarked goodies for Mo and then to Jessica, while Russell nominated one to Ruthie.

TV icon Beverley noted that the process was ‘really, really bitter sweet’, while Vernon admitted it was hard to watch Giovanna’s reaction.

The media personality said: ‘As the process went on and the boxes became fewer and the treats from home became less she realised that there was an opportunity to not be given a message from loved ones and that’s when it really hit home.’
