The Masked Singer: Paul Anka is revealed as the Broccoli

The Masked Singer’s special Thanksgiving show revealed Canadian music legend Paul Anka, who was guessed correctly by Robin Thicke.

The 79-year-old crooner was unmasked as the Broccoli, after he lost the Smackdown against the Mushroom.

The Jellyfish advanced to the Super Six finalists, with the Mushroom also securing its place as a finalist. 

The show begins with all of the Group C finalists, the Broccoli, the Mushroom and the Jellyfish.

Nick Cannon comes on stage with a black and white striped cape, for some reason, as gold-clad dancers dance around him.

Just two singers from Group C will advance to the Super Finals, of Jellyfish, Broccoli and Mushroom, who will all perform.

All three of the performers will sing, with the audience, judges and America voting, with the top one safe and the bottom two facing off in the Smackdown, with the loser being unmasked.

They all start wondering where Ken Jeong is, as he comes out late wearing a turkey hat, adding that the judges were all supposed to dress up.

The guest panelist is revealed to be comedian Jay Pharoah, who says he’s ‘happy to be back’ with his ‘sexy Voltron mask.’

He starts impersonating Empire star Terrence Howard before the Group C group performance, which Cannon reveals is ‘chock full of crazy clues.’

They all start performing The Jackson 5 song I Want You Back together as the judges start dancing to the song and such.

McCarthy praised the performance, saying ‘That was awesome,’ and they did an ‘amazing job,’ adding she’s rooting for all of them.

Jeong said that it was the ‘healthiest’ ensemble for the group performance, before getting into the first clue package with the Jellyfish.

The Jellyfish says he’s a ‘super fan’ and adds that she loves watching the show with her sister, who is apparently an accountant of some sort.

The sister is masked with a ‘calculator’ over her face as the sister wishes her luck in the show tonight.

The Jellyfish performs Don’t Start Now by Dua Lipa, which impresses all of the judges, with Scherzinger saying she ‘sounds amazing.’

‘She killed it!’ McCarthy raved, as Pharroah saying, ‘I didn’t know that was gonna come out of that Jellyfish.’

Jeong says he thinks the Jellyfish has a real shot, as Cannon brings out a new clue – ‘If you’ve found this you’ll know I’ve never performed on a stage quite like this before.’

Scherzinger guesses Charli XCX while Pharoah thinks it’s a reality star, Kylie Jenner, while Robin Thicke thinks it’s an athlete.

Jenny McCarthy also thinks she’s an athlete, guessing McKalya Maroney, as Scherzinger adds she’s a ‘naturally-gifted talent.’

The judges all start talking about their favorite Thanksgiving dishes, with Pharaoh impersonating Kevin Hart and what he likes for Turkey Day.

The Mushroom is up next, saying in the clue package that he or she loves keeping the judges on their toes, and that there is only one person who knows he/she is there – a government agent.

The government agent starts dropping a number of clues, before The Mushroom starts singing Unconditional by Katy Perry, which baffles the judges.

‘This one is killing me, Ken!’ Scherzinger enthused, adding, ‘This one is frustrating me the most.’

McCarthy thinks that, based on his/her talent makes his/her a lock for the Super Six, as the ‘game changer’ clue is revealed.

‘The name that I go by now was not my name when I first sprouted,’ The Mushroom said.

Robin Thicke still thinks it might be Jaden Smith, as Pharaoh does an impression of Jaden’s father Will Smith.

Scherzinger things it might be Taye Diggs, adding that the bull seen in the clue package could allude to him starring in the musical Chicago.

Ken Jeong thinks it might be The Weeknd, as The Mushsroom says changing things up has been his/her strategy from the start.

The Broccoli clue package reveals he’s no stranger to women fawning all over him, and while he loves his fans, he’s the most grateful for two women in his life.

One of the women say he used to cut a hole in the circus tent to watch the show for free before he got caught, with clues including beetles and dice.

Broccoli performs Old Time Rock and Roll by Bob Seger, and he even does a little dance on stage, bringing the crowd to its feet.

Scherzinger was clearly impressed, saying he ‘killed it’ before his ‘game changing clue’ is revealed.

‘Do not put your broccoli in the microwave, which was invented after I was born,’ he says, as McCarthy reveals the microwave was invented in the 40s.

Pharoah guesses it was Al Roker while Jeong guarantees he knows who it is – Ringo Starr, while Robin Thicke reveals his guess is Paul Anka.

A viewer asked what his favorite Thanksgiving dish is, as he reveals his favorite meal, which includes, ‘a 42-year-old in Chicago,’ which shocks the judges.

The audience and judges all vote for Jellyfish to go into the Super Six, leaving The Mushroom and Broccoli will compete in the Smackdown.

The Broccoli and The Mushroom square off for the Smackdown, with Broccoli going first with Take Me Down by Alabama.

The Mushroom gives The Broccoli a thumbs down, before performing A Song For You by Donny Hathaway.

Pharoah does an impression of The Rock when asked how the performers fared, while McCarthy called it ‘veggie on veggie crime.’

‘He came out singing to take him down so I took him down,’ The Mushroom said, as The Broccoli said she should take him down because she might not be in that garden again.

The votes are in and Broccoli is eliminated from The Masked Singer, as The Mushroom advances to the Super Six.

Host Nick Cannon pulls out the panel’s ‘first impression’ guesses from The Vault, with Nicole’s guess Bill Murray, but she’s not sticking with it. Instead she guesses Wayne Newton.

Ken Jeong sticks with Ringo Starr, as Robin Thicke’s first impression guess was Bob Newhart, but he thinks there was ‘too much Canada,’ and sticks with Paul Anka.

Jenny McCarthy’s first impression guess was Jerry Springer, but she’s not sticking with it, and she guesses Neil Sedaka.

Cannon then turns to Jay Pharoah, who originally thought it was Al Roker, but his ‘black meter’ wasn’t going off, so he’s going with Paul Simon.

Broccoli starts the unmasking process, as the veggie is revealed to be Paul Anka, which Thicke had correctly guessed.

‘It was a great, great kick. These 65 years I’ve never been out of work. I’m very humbled because we have gone through something in our country, so to go through something like this and still have fun, it’s a wonderful thing,’ Anka said.

McCarthy asked how he stays in good shape, as he said working with Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin, ‘got it out of his system’ and he started getting in shape.

Jenny remains in the lead with three guesses, as the episode comes to an end with Paul Anka singing Old Time Rock and Roll once again.
