She is starring in festive lesbian romcom Happiest Season, which is about a woman who takes her girlfriend home for the holidays but is afraid to come out.
And Kristen Stewart spoke about her own experience with her sexuality in a new interview with the i newspaper, as she admitted she felt ‘pressure’ to come out.
The film star, 30, had remained quiet about her sexuality after dating Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson and Alicia Cargile, as well as model Stella Maxwell.

However during her successful Saturday Night Live hosting stint in 2017 during a monologue about Donald Trump, Kristen dropped the line that she was ‘so gay’.
During the riff, Kristen was referring to the infamous occasion when Trump tweeted about her love life and then-boyfriend and co-star Robert.
She quipped: ‘Donald, if you didn’t like me then, you’re probably really not going to like me now. Because I’m hosting SNL and I’m, like, so gay, dude.’

Detailing her decision to publicly reference her own sexuality, Kristen said, she said: ‘When I was 22, I grew into understanding myself in a more ambiguous way. I was like, “That doesn’t really work for me.”
The actress, whose next project is playing Princess Diana, felt pressure to ‘put a label on it’ and define what she was, reports the publication.
That was three years ago and Kristen admitted that being gay isn’t any easier now, as she lives in a world where holding the hand of the person you love can make you or others uncomfortable’.
Using a recent experience as an example, she said of a recent trip: ‘I entered some, like, Trumpian territory, and I felt scared. I have experience of trying to shape what my experience looks like for others, for it to be digestible and not threatening.’

The film will see Abby, played by Kristen, attend her girlfriend Harper’s, played by Mackenzie Davis, family annual holiday party where she discovers she hasn’t come out to her conservative parents yet.
Talking about the film and its importance of showing two female leads at the centre of a love story, Kristen, who is currently loved-up with partner Dylan Meyer, said it is ‘extremely attractive’.
Speaking to The Guardian’s G2, Kristen said: ‘It’s a gay Christmas movie and I know that’s an annoying thing to label it right off the bat, but, for me, that is extremely attractive, and sounds like… a huge exhale.’
Kristen went on to admit that it was important as she didn’t grow up with films that had ‘two female leads at the centre of a love story’ and she would have loved to have seen more movies feature a LGBTQ+ couple.
The actress said it ‘feels good’ to be part of the new rom-com, she continued: ‘I didn’t grow up with a movie that had such expansive ambition, that had two female leads at the centre of a love story, and not in this format.
‘Not to say there hasn’t been great queer content made over the years that has been really beautiful, and really important touchstones. But at the same time, it’s not something that I grew up with, and I would have loved to.’

Kristen revealed that she signed up to the movie after director Clea DuVall flew to Germany to ask her to be a part of it.
The actress admitted that when they discussed who would play Abby’s partner, Harper, they realised there was ‘absolutely literally no one else’ apart from Mackenzie, 33.
Kristen added that it was important to her that their on-screen relationship be ‘cool and comfortable’, with the star adding that their chemistry was ‘never forced’.
Filming took place in Pittsburgh over January and February, just before the coronavirus pandemic swept the world and shut down most productions.
