Kaley Cuoco and her husband Karl Cook grieve as their elderly rescue dog Petunia dies

She’s been a champion for abused and unloved dogs and stepped up her work to help them amid the ongoing pandemic.

But Kaley Cuoco had to say goodbye to one of her beloved rescue dogs on Wednesday when her husband Karl Cook revealed that their rescue dog Petunia had died.

The equestrian shared some heartbreaking but sweet photos of the dog from recent days as he announced their loss.

Saying goodbye: Kaley Cuoco’s husband Karl Cook revealed on Wednesday that their elderly adopted Pit Bull Petunia had died. The couple took her in earlier this year

Petunia, a brown Pit Bull with a white snout, dozed peacefully with another one of their Pit Bulls in the first photo Karl shared.

‘After a life of untold loneliness and hardship she is at rest. For that I am happy,’ he wrote.

‘We did what we adopted petunia to do better than anyone else, give her everything. She is resting at peace, with everyday’s sunset to warm her. That is what matters most.

‘Petunia it is not the amount of time together, but it’s affects on the soul. You affected everyone who met you. You’re forever my old lady. I miss you so much already, sleep my sweet angel❤️❤️❤️,’ he concluded.

Kar also shared an adorable image of Kaley napping on the sofa next to Petunia, while another snap showed her cuddling up with him.

He included a tear-jerking video that initially showed the dog bounding down the hall of his horse stables as she excitedly ran to meet him.

But with yards to go she slows and begins to limp toward him, presumably because her frail body couldn’t keep up the pace.

The clip concluded with Karl giving her loving rubs on her head.

Another video also showed Petunia looking fitter as she dashed about the yard.

Kaley initially let her husband take care of the public grieving, but later on Wednesday she shared her own posts to her Insta Stories, including one of the couple and Petunia.

‘We love you dear special Petunia!!!!!’ she gushed in the caption.

‘You are the reason we continue to save dogs just like you. And we will never stop.’

Other posts singled out the Paws for Life K9 Rescue, where Kayley found Petunia, as well as Karl’s Pomponio Ranch, which helped care for the dog.

Kaley and Karl have been together since 2016, and the two tied the knot in June of 2018.

She was previously married to the professional tennis player Ryan Sweeting from 2013 to 2016.

The former Big Bang Theory star’s new HBO Max miniseries The Flight Attendant is set to become available on the streaming service starting on Thanksgiving day.

She stars as the eponymous flight attendant, who wakes up in a Bangkok hotel room to find herself next to a dead body.

After freaking out and trying to go about her day as if nothing had happened, she’s struck by the possibility that she might be a murderer.
