Dirty Dancing’s Jennifer Grey says chronological age is meaningless as she returns for sequel at age 60

She’s set to reprise her role as Baby in a sequel to 1987’s Dirty Dancing.

And Jennifer Grey, who split from husband Clark Gregg earlier this year, has no qualms about returning at age 60 to the movie that catapulted her to stardom.

‘I really don’t give too much weight to chronological age, even though the world wants to tell you it means something,’ the actress told People.

Back in action: Jennifer Grey who turned 60 in March and is about to star in and executive produce a sequel to Dirty Dancing, says she basically believes age is just a number

Grey explained: ‘I know a million people who are very young who behave like they’re ancient. I know my grandmother, who was 93 when she died, was dancing and making art and walking and living independently.

‘I think that it’s all about how you live, not how long you live,’ she said.

In July, she and Gregg, 58, announced they had been separated since January and in August, the Agents of S.H.I’E.L.D. actor filed for divorce.

They had married in 2001 after a year of dating and share a daughter Stella, now 18.

Famous face: Grey was catapulted to international stardom for her role as Baby opposite Patrick Swayze in 1987's Dirty Dancing. A subsequent nose job stalled her career, however

‘I think one of the things I’ve understood as I’ve gotten older is how little I care what other people think of me,’ Grey told People. ‘What I’m mostly concerned about is how I feel about myself.’

In the divorce settlement, Grey gets to keep 100 percent of royalties and residuals from Dirty Dancing.

She will serve as an executive producer on the sequel, which was confirmed by Lionsgate in August, although she’s pledged to silence on details of the plot.

Her co-star Patrick Swayze died in 2009 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer and she has divulged that the new movie will not attempt to replace him.

‘You never try to repeat anything that’s magic like that. You just go for something different,’ she shared.
