Daryn (Jaden) and Isabelle (Cara Delevingne) are polar opposites who begin a rollercoaster romance in New York City.
The very first trailer for the film shows the pair butting heads over the state of their relationship – until Isabelle reveals she has just one year to live.

Isabelle finally agrees to go out with him, but insists only just as friends.
Eventually, the duo begin seeing each other.

The pair eventually face a make-or-break point.
While the relationship has become all-consuming for Daryn, Isabelle continues to hold him at arms-length.
‘People do things when they’re dating,’ Daryn tells Isabelle.
‘We’re not dating, Daryn. You’re going to have to leave,’ she replies.

‘It’s not that simple,’ she says.
‘Everywhere I look I see you. I’m just chasing after something,’ he says.
Isabelle begins shouting. ‘Stop, just stop!’ she screams.

Finally, she reveals: ‘I have a year to live, if that.’
The illness does not deter Daryn, who returns to her door with a bouquet of roses, more determined than ever before.
‘I have a plan Issy, we’re going to live our full life, all the milestones. All in this year. Me and you!’ he says.
‘Go away Daryn, I don’t believe in happy endings,’ Isabelle tells him, her colorful locks now gone and her head wrapped up.

Daryn follows through on his plan, and makes her final days as fulfilling as possible.
Whether she is blowing out the candles to dozens of cupcakes, graduating from high school, or going to concerts, the duo seem to be having the time of their lives.
‘The only way to learn about life is by living. And I’ve learned every moment is your moment,’ Isabelle says in a voice-over. ‘If you can manage to look past your own fears and everyone else’s expectations, the reward is your life.’
