Boned radio host Brigitte Duclos breaks her silence on her ‘incredibly brutal’ and ‘ruthless’ sacking from Gold FM – and claims she was axed for being too OLD
Brigitte Duclos was sacked from Gold FM in November 2015 and almost immediately replaced by a younger presenter, Jo Stanley, who was seven years her junior.
Five years on from her ‘incredibly brutal’ and ‘gut-wrenching’ dismissal, Brigette has spoken about how the ‘ruthless’ experience of getting boned affected her family and how took her years to rebuild her confidence.
Appearing on the Sacked Showbiz podcast on Thursday, the 55-year-old said: ‘The whole thing was just wow. If I was to be honest now, I do think it was traumatising.’

Brigette had hosted Gold FM’s breakfast show with Anthony ‘Lehmo’ Lehmann for four years, and couldn’t understand why she was the only one getting the sack.
Half a decade later, Brigette still doesn’t know the real reason she was let go – but guesses it was to ‘remove the old from Gold’ and replace her with a younger host who was more familiar with technology.
Brigette claimed she was completely blindsided by being given her marching orders, as she had been given a new contract to sign to extend her time at the network.

‘It was incredibly brutal and my only beef with it is probably that. This happens in life, but I think the way in which it happened was bad. We’d done a show and they’d offered me a contract and I was waiting for my manager to come back from overseas and I was going to sign it,’ she said.
Brigette claims she was walked out, and was unable to say goodbye to colleagues, station staff or her devoted listeners.
‘I felt I lost my identity… I felt sick and suddenly all the new billboards go up,’ she recalled, claiming the November axing caught her particularly off guard as Christmas was approaching, and she had no job and two children in school.

Brigette began her media career in television in 1986, and unfortunately her sacking from GOLD FM in 2015 marked the end of her almost 30-year career in the industry.
She told the podcast: ‘Now I look back and I think, just be very grateful I had such a good long career. But still traumatised a bit when I think about it.’
