‘There are mum police out there that will jump on you’: Millie Mackintosh speaks out on trolls and her relationship with her post-baby body after six months after giving birth

Millie Mackintosh has reflected on her first six months of motherhood in a candid new interview.

The former Made in Chelsea star spoke to Mother And Baby about the affect ‘mum police’ trolls have had on her self esteem as well as her changing relationship with her body.

Millie, 31, and her husband Hugo Taylor, 34, welcomed their daughter Sienna in May, and since then the star has been sharing her journey into motherhood with her 1.4m Instagram followers.

But in the new interview, Millie reflects on the downsides of having such a huge presence online, explaining she is targeted by trolls.

‘There are definitely some mum police out there that really will like jump on you and criticise anything you do. You can’t please everybody,’ she explained.

‘I really just try and take a deep breath, put my phone down or go for a walk if it’s really got to me but I think you just have to rise above it.’

The star admitted though that she’s found huge positives in social media in her role as a mum, especially when she shared her family’s experience when Sienna was diagnosed with Hip Dysplasia at three-months-old.

Sienna had to spend six weeks in a brace and will continue to have weekly appointments and scans every six months until she is three-years-old.

Millie said she grew emotional when her followers shared their own experiences of the condition with her and it helped her through.

She has also received an outpouring of support after sharing her honest relationship with her post-birth body, admitting she is a stone heavier than when she got pregnant, but she is feeling confident six months after the birth.

‘I think a lot of my identity has always been in how I look and how I feel in my body and having it change beyond recognition – it was a shock,’ she explained.

‘I found it particularly hard after I’d had the baby and actually adjusting took a while. It was hard not to be critical of myself, even though I knew my body created a life.’

She added that now ‘I love looking at pictures of when I was pregnant and just being like, wow, like my stomach was huge! And just knowing that Sienna was in there. And I’m so in awe of my body now I definitely have a lot more respect for it. And yeah, it does look different!’

Millie also explained her hypnobirthing approach to her planned c-section after finding out Sienna was breech, describing it as one of the best experiences of her life after a physically demanding pregnancy.

‘I actually think that having a baby was one of the best things that you could have done in lockdown,’ she added, gushing that she had relished having time together as a family.
