Idris Elba, 48, flaunts his rippling muscles as he works out at a Sydney CBD gym… after being released from a mandatory two-week quarantine ahead of filming for his new movie

He was recently released from a two-week quarantine ahead of filming for George Miller’s new fantasy romance flick, Three Thousand Years of Longing.

And Idris Elba was making the most of his release on Tuesday, as he worked on his rippling muscles during a sweat-inducing gym session in Sydney’s CBD.

The Luther actor, 48, was seen using three resistance bands to bulk up his muscular legs and arms while a personal trainer stood beside him.

He appeared to complete the workout with ease, launching the band straight over his head to build even more muscle in his already huge biceps.

The popular actor flaunted his incredible physique in a white vest top, baggy black shorts and grey trainers.

After his intense workout session, Idris was later seen exiting the gym where he donned a red beanie hat – the same one he sported the day before, for a walk around Drummoyne.

The Thor star is filming the new movie by director George Miller, which was originally planned to start in March before being delayed by the pandemic.

It’s the first movie George has directed since Mad Max: Fury Road in 2015.

The Australian director has kept the content of the film close to his chest, saying that it will be a ‘fantasy romance’.

‘It’s a movie that is very strongly visual, but it’s almost the opposite of Fury Road,’ he told Deadline, referring to the most recent film on the Mad Max franchise.

‘It’s almost all interior and there’s a lot of conversation in it. There are action scenes, but they are by the by and I guess you could say it’s the anti-Mad Max,’ he added.

The film also stars Tilda Swinton and David Collins, but little is known about the plot.
