The musical instruments coming from the collection of the late Van Halen – which include a 2004 EVH Charvel Art Series guitar – are projected to bring in between $60,000 and $80,000 apiece.

The company’s president Darren Julien said that plans were in the offing for the guitars to hit the auction block prior to his death October 6 at the age of 65 after battling cancer.

‘As we were preparing for our annual Icons & Idols: Rock and Roll auction lineup, we were stunned to hear the sad news of Eddie Van Halen’s passing last week,’ Julien said in October in a statement. ‘We are honored to include at this event two of his iconic guitars from his brilliant and blazing career as one of rock’s greatest and most gifted guitar heroes.’

Other auction wares come from the estate of Michael Jackson, who collaborated with Van Halen on his 1982 hit Beat It.
