Erin McNaught pens an emotional tribute after sensationally quitting SAS Australia

Model Erin McNaught has penned an emotional tribute to her time on SAS Australia, after quitting the show on Monday night.

The former Neighbours star said she was still ‘in bits’ following the harrowing challenges on the show.

‘I am in bits right now after reliving those final moments but I know I did what was right for the team,’ she wrote on Instagram following her departure.

‘As much as my mind was still strong, my body was failing me. I’ve come out of this experience far stronger than I ever thought possible.’

Erin then went on to thank the show’s ‘directing staff’ – including Ant Middleton, Jason Fox, Ollie Ollerton and Mark Billingham – telling them ‘she’ll be back’.

‘You helped me to find a strength and a resolve I wasn’t sure I had,’ she wrote.

‘You get the very best out of people and I am so grateful to have been able to do this course with you all.’

She went on to say she would do the show again ‘in a heartbeat’, before thanking the support and encouragement of her teammates.

On Monday, Erin broke down in tears and quit the show after being pushed beyond her limits.

After falling behind the rest of the group during a punishing obstacle course, chief instructor Ant Middleton repeatedly urged her to quit.

‘You are so far behind this group. Think about the team, think about the mission, think about the task,’ SAS soldier Ant told her.

He added: ‘They are suffering because of you!’

After finally hoisting the sandbag up, Erin began to cry, before collapsing to her knees and sobbing on the ground.

‘This is what happens in f**king war. We lose people, we sacrifice. We do what we need to do to get the job done,’ he told her, as Erin picked herself back up.

Ant told Erin she was being ‘selfish’ and said her teammates would ‘continue to suffer’ because of her refusal to give up.

Finally, she dropped the sandbag onto the ground, before hysterically reaching for her armband and then hesitating.

‘Get your head up high. You’ve stopped them from suffering,’ Ant told her, after she hysterically handed over her armband, effectively quitting the show.

He continued: ‘Believe it or not, you’ve done the right thing… You’ve reached your limits, beyond that. You’re so far behind. Keep your head held high.’

Back at base camp, Erin made an emotional video phone call to her husband of seven years, English rapper Example.

As the 38-year-old asked her how she was doing, Erin broke down and cried: ‘I’m just so broken right now.’
