Pregnant wife of Superdry millionaire is isolating at £14,000-a-night CLARIDGE’S suite

The wife of Superdry clothing tycoon Julian Dunkerton is preparing for the much-anticipated birth of their baby at one of Britain’s most prestigious hotels to avoid any exposure to coronavirus, MailOnline can reveal.

Mother-to-be Jade Holland Cooper is holed up in a £14,000-a-night suite at Claridge’s Hotel in London‘s Mayfair with doting husband Julian, 55, and a number of their most trusted assistants.

The 33-year-old fashion designer is 38-weeks pregnant and is expected to give birth to their baby girl any time soon.

The multi-millionaire couple – who tied the knot at a lavish wedding ceremony at his £50 million Gloucestershire mansion two years ago – relocated to London days ago to be close to the private hospital where Jade plans to give birth.

Claridge’s three restaurants have closed in accordance with the latest lockdown but the hotel remains open to guests travelling for work.

‘Julian Dunkerton, the multi-millionaire boss of Superdry, has moved his pregnant wife and his core staff to Claridge’s to isolate for two weeks before she is due to give birth,’ a source told MailOnline.

However as Mr Dunkerton has temporarily moved his commercial operation to the Mayfair hotel the Superdry director his wife and his staff qualify as business travellers.

While Julian and Jade are staying in the palatial two-bedroom Royal Suite – rate card price £14,000 per night plus VAT – members of their entourage have had to make do with less luxurious beds, costing as little as £600-a-night.

And mum-to-be Jade appears be enjoying everything the Royal Suite has to offer ahead of the baby.

The couple are very much looking forward to the birth of their first child together.

Holding up a scan of her child delighted Jade announced on Instagram: ‘I could not be happier. We are having a baby girl and I am going to be a mummy.’

She added: ‘It has been such a blessing in an otherwise difficult and gloomy time. To have been able to spend my first three months of pregnancy at home has been amazing.

‘Hats off to all the pregnant ladies out there: it can be a rollercoaster of emotions, but we are super excited for the next phase.’

Back at the hotel, the couple should not feel too hemmed in by their self-imposed isolation in the ‘ultra-spacious 2400-square-foot’ Royal Suite, which is serviced by their own personal butler.

And if the pair did want to pop out for any essential items – such as nappies – a Mercedes S-class limousine is on hand for urgent transfers, as part of the deal.

Claridge’s describes the Royal Suite as; ‘Stepping into entrance hall, you are immersed in rich history and regal grandeur, with carefully crafted details that blend tradition with the height of contemporary comfort.

‘Many of the design motifs and materials reflect the Coronation of Her Majesty The Queen, the intricately embroidered gown and the celebratory dinner that was held at Claridge’s in 1953.’

While the couple will not be able to dine at any of the hotel’s three restaurants, Claridge’s Executive Chef Martyn Nail’s team continue to conjure up wonderful meals delivered as room service.

The hotel states: ‘From Thursday 5 November to Thursday 3 December Claridge’s will remain open to accommodate guests travelling for work as permitted by current government regulations.

‘All restaurants and bars will be closed during this time, with resident guests provided service by in-room dining.’

Fashion tycoon Dunkerton sold just under £50 million of shares in Superdry to fund a divorce settlement to his first wife, Charlotte Abbot, with whom he has a teenager daughter and step-daughter.

Last year the entrepreneur led a revolt to oust the board of Superdry in which he owns a £17.4 million stake.

The spokeswoman for Julian Dunkerton and Jade Holland Cooper declined to comment about the hotel stay when contacted by MailOnline.
